Mabi 719 Silicone Iron Rest Pad - Ironing Pad Mat - Suitable for all irons, ironing boards and steam stations

We have a standard steam iron namely a Philips Azur. The dimensions of this mat are far too small for this very popular highly rated iron.You can see from the images that the nose of the iron overlaps the mat about 5mm and the iron just about fits widthways.On the grounds of safety this mat should be larger as if the baby cries, the dog barks or there is a caller at the door there is not usually time to put an iron in place on a mat like this with pinpoint accuracy.This is not therefore a "Universal" product but one only suitable for smaller ironsUPDATE 26 February.This report is being upgraded from one star to three stars to reflect the excellent customer service by MABI. Although they correctly point out the size of the mat is shown in the product details they have arranged a prompt and full refund. The company should however note that several people giving four or five star ratings have mentioned concern about the size of the mat.On the underside of the substantial pad there are well designed teeth to keep the mat in place. We felt that a second mat would be an answer to larger irons provided the ironing board were large enough (it is in our case!)The prompt delivery and attention encourages us to try using two mats together. If this is safe for us perhaps a two for one offer could be recommended by Mabi for larger irons. The right answer would be to have the option of a larger mat but, if necessary, we can find out whether there is a heat resistant silicone adhesive suitable for bonding two mats together.

To stop my wife knocking the iron on the floor and making holes in the laminate flooring I bought this product to keep the iron horizontal hence stable on the ironing board.

This handy little mat sits at the end of my ironing board and stops me burning a hole in the cover when I put the iron down.
