Quality Pasta Machine
I bought this set several years ago when it was on offer. I was looking to buy a basic Imperia pasta machine, not a set like this, but I ended up buying this because of the bargain price.I had owned a Typhoon pasta machine before, which broke after a couple of uses (the cogs became bent) and left me dubious about pasta machines in general.I chose Imperia because I'd heard they are one of the best manual pasta machines around and I'm glad I did! The machine is solidly built and all rollers/cutters run very smoothly. I must add that I use this machine almost solely for making Udon noodles, which is Japanese origin and made of flour, water and quite a bit of salt(5g salt + 150g + 300g flour). Since Udon noodle dough is harder (contains less water) than Italian pasta dough, rolling dough out requires more strength. I was worried at first if the machine could handle Udon dough but it managed to make beautiful sheets of dough. Another thing I was worried about was that the machine might get rusty because of coming in contact with salty dough. Again, I needn't have worried. After several years of use I haven't seen any rust spots develop on the machine. However, you've got to remember you mustn't wash the machine when cleaning to avoid rust. I just wait for the odd bits of pasta stuck to the machine to dry out and dislodge them by turning handles of roller/cutter and brush them off with a brush provided with the set.As for cutters, the set offers plenty of options. My favourite is the one that produces Fettucine type noodle.I have to be honest here; I've never used the ravioli attachment and I don't think I ever will. It just looks too much of a hassle to fiddle with the attachment. I can imagine it can get messy with filling as well.If you are considering a pasta machine, choose Imperia. They really are quality equipment and the price is reasonable. Whether you require more than a basic one is up to you.Pros: Solid, can handle hard dough, doesn't rust. Impressive as a gift.Cons: The box the set comes in is quite big.

Not a particularly high quality product
I was sold a previously opened product as the box was damaged and there were marks on the items inside. The product itself was not of a particularly high standard: there was lubrication grease on the rollers; pieces of wood were coming off the spoons; there were unfinished metal edges; the brush was crushed and deformed; the components did not fit together smoothly. It is being returned for a replacement and I will assess the replacement product.

Best pasta!
I bought this machine and I have to say it is really good, making your own pasta is rewarding as it tastes so much better, just made some cannelloni last night and they were delicious. So it's great for lasagne, spaghetti...There are 2 things to be aware though: the attachement for the ravioli, it is just impossible to use it, we tried and ended up having our filing everywhere on the machine (you are not supposed to clean any parts of the machine with water which is great in a way as basically almost no cleaning is required!)so for ravioli we just bought some round cutting shape and it works very well. The other thing I would say is that you need to have a table or worktop thick enough to be able to fix the machine to it. That is for all pasta machine though, we've managed to do it on a chopping board but it's not ideal as it is moving a lot while using the machine. In and all I would definitly recommend this machine as it is a great tool for someone who loves cooking pasta.

Over priced
I purchased this item 2 weeks ago and returned it within 2 days to get the basic imperia with 1 attachment which I love. I was really dissappointed with the 505 model. The ravioli attachment is as good as useless. I found making ravioli by hand from sheet far easier and cleaner. It says you MUST not wash the attachments - because they rust quickly, and yet the ravioli attachment gets covered in ravioli sauce - really unhygenic & major design fault. Likewise, the other attachment makes virtually identical pasta to the spagetti attachment. The imperia I feel only has one justifiable attachment which comes with the basic 'no frills' model. To top it off - the 505 model box is massive - and not appropriate for a standard kitchen. I believe it is over priced and best avoided : ( Sorry to be a spoil sport.....
