OSX Mavericks Issue
I would give this 4 or 5 stars but I've been having random reboot problems with the CR-H252 with OSX Mavericks. It took me a while to isolate the problem to the CR-H252, but it's definitely the cause. Not sure if it's the incompatibility is a Mavericks USB 3.0 driver issue or is something that could be fixed on the CR-H252 with a firmware update. Either way though it makes the CR-H252 unsuitable as a backup device until it's fixed. I'm using the CR-H252 in normal mode, not any of the RAID modes/

Buy if don't mind that your data will get erased.
I bought one these last year. I placed 2 4GB hard drives in it. One was a primary hard drive, one was a backup. I would turn it on for short periods to add data and turn it off. So over the course of a year it was lighty used. Last month, I turned it on to add data and the enclosure may a grinding sound, which stopped and I was able to see my drives and add data. I turned it off. The next day I turned it on. No grinding sound, no data. I took the enclosure with my hard drives to the local Microsoft store. I was told there was no data on either drive. The enclosure had reformatted both drives. Three years of data gone. I emailed CineRaid support and explained what happened. I never heard back. It was out of warranty, bad luck for me. So if you want to take a chance your data will be erased, go ahead and get this enclosure. It is solid, so I have a new paperweight.

so good! I've been using this enclosure for about seven ...
So far, so good! I've been using this enclosure for about seven months. Initially, I just ran a JBOD setup with a couple of old drives I had lying around but today, I decided to turn this sucker into my Cinema Vault. After years of dealing with the PITA of storing blurays and arguing with my girlfriend when she forgets to put them away (which is always), I did my homework and found a solution which allows me to backup my bluray library to iso files which will run in their native quality and include hd audio and 3d video. I knew I was gonna need some SERIOUS storage to do this, though, as blu-ray quality video files are HUGE. Not only is the Cineraid doing a great job with the media but I also tested AND CAN CONFIRM that this bad boy supports two 6tb disks. I'm running a RAID 0 setup and the drive shows up as a 12tb monster drive on OSX Yosemite! 10/10 would recommend!
