Easy to apply, doesn't mix well with mineral spirits
I applied this over top of UTOS on maple butcher block countertops. The application is super easy but it is very thin, so pour out a little at a time. My issue was either the mineral spirits had not dried completely or did not evaporated entirely prior to applying the H20lox, despite more than an hour wait. When I began to apply the coating, the surface appeared blotchy and it began to form puddles. Without much time to research remedies, I opted to quickly grab a clean rag. I wiped off the material I had used to cover the countertop, making sure to turn the rag so I didn't leave any residue, dust, etc. I then reapplied the H20lox using the paint/stain pad. It covered well, did not puddle or blotch up and dried as it was supposed to do. The surface dried & cured well for the first coat, second is undergoing that process as I type. I was glad I began on the underside first, so I have a better understanding of what to expect on the "finished" side.

Choose another sealer
I did so much research, and followed directions with everything, the finish just did not turn out. So many bubbles. Used proper tools and everything. It's been 2 months and things are still sticking to the top. Their tounge oil was beautiful though.

Awesome for Butcher Block!
This stuff is a must for butcher block countertops. I used the recommended coats of the Waterlox original sealer and finish and topped all of that off with this product. Gives you piece of mind when water gets on your counters. Also adds a slight sheen to the counters making them look amazing! This application does take time, what with the coats of sealer/finish and then this. Took me about a week to finish our new countertops with all of the dry time needed in between. Goes on milky, dries clear. Water just beads on the counters now. You still need to care for them and make sure water doesn’t sit on them, but all of the work was worth it. We’re about 2 months in with our counters and they look great! I’m only using the Waterlox cleaner on the counters, as recommended.

Needs multiple coats
I wanted a nontoxic sealer and finish for my maple countertops. I had used oil and wax based finish before and it was not sufficiently protective to water, food and dark rings from cans. At first I thought this was going to be a terrible mistake due to a glossy sheen and appearance of brush marks. I was very careful to follow all directions and sanded between coats. But by the third coat it developed the true satin sheen I wanted and looked much better. It enhanced the color of the countertops so all in all I am ok with this product.
