Starts well. Does the job.
Starts well. And made the job easier. It can be difficult to hold on to when it hits a root

Used for 3 months, honest review..
This is neither a great or an awful unit. I am buying a replacement after only 3 months use because :-1) Bolts have fallen out2) The exhaust fell off3) The pins holding the borer twisted4) The ends are destroyed on 2 of the borersThe other negative is that when this gets jammed it almost breaks your wrist. I ended up with a cut down my arm from one occasion when it spun after jamming. The positive are the when you use this machine in muddy condition it digs a hole in second when it would take forever with a two handed post hole digger. I seriously tried this first and gave up after 5 holes. The machine started to fall to bits trying to dig holes in heavy clay soil that was dry as a bone. Its just not designed for heavy dry ground. It will still work, but will be slower and it takes its toll on this cheap machine.I have never had a problem starting this machine. We have dug around 50 holes with it, some being gate post holes which are much larger than a field post hole. You may say only 50 holes but I am just about happy to pay £4 a hole for the effort it saves. For the job I have to finish it isn't worth paying for a stihl machine of higher quality.

Easy to use, lightweight, good build quality - I should have bought this years ago
I love it when I buy something and it turns out well.Summary if you can't be bothered reading this whole review:1. Easy start: A very short pull needed with little strength required to start the motor.2. 3 different sizes of bit so you can drill through difficult/rocky soil in stages.3. Bits are easily changeable and takes about 30 seconds - Caution: don't lose the pin - put it in the end of the bit immediately after removing the bit.4. Comes with a handy bottle for mixing 2 stroke fuel accurately.5. Safety pack included.Full review:This is just such a good buy. I comes with a safety pack of goggles/gloves/leg protectors that I haven't used because I have my own. There is a mixing bottle as shown in the picture that makes it easy to get the right 2-stroke mix. Then there is the machine itself. It is much lighter than I thought it would be making it very easy to use by myself as it starts so easily. It comes with 3 different size bits which I thought would be a waste. I mean, who needs a 4 inch bit, right? It turns out that I did. I am putting in some 6 x 4 stud rail post next to a concrete apron. The problem is that 3 inch stone was used underneath the concrete and bled out into the field. So by using the 4 inch bit first I was able to loosen up the rocks and then the 8 inch bit just chewed through the ground. The second photo is an 8-10 inch hole just short of 1m deep, dug out in about 2 minutes with little effort using the bits and the extension.I cannot believe that I have spent years with a manual post driver putting in fences. Never again. I just love this driver (just in case you didn't realise).Update: I just added the last picture. I planted 100 copper beech plants in a straight hedge in less than 2 hours. I can't think how long this would have taken with a spade and manual digging. Best buy ever!

Amazing bit of kit for the money
Definitely a good buy, this has saved me so much time digging post holes it will bore a hole in under 30 seconds.Robust and keeps going well worth every penny even if you only use it a few times

Good bit of kit
Fast, efficient service by supplier. The product sort of does the job but we have been a bit disappointed but that's probably because of the ground. The equipment did pull my husband's shoulder very badly when it hit a stone and spun round so you have to be aware that the equipment has the propensity to do this. Also it would be so brilliant if it had a "reverse" - our ground is clay and stoney apparently and trying to get a deep enough hole has been quite a chore in certain places and impossible in some. I think this is probably not a particular easy bit of kit to use, theres a lot of measuring, a bit tricky changing the different augers but it seems quite robust. You have to be very careful not to lose the "split pin" though and if the auger gets jammed you have to take the main body off, get a large screw driver and "reverse" twist the auger out of the hole which is a REAL pain ! If the couple of problems mentioned could be ironed out it would be brilliant and a lot easier that "post bashing" and trying to dig out holes with a hole digger thingy - especially when you have 10 acres of horse fields to maintain the fence regularly ! I also don't agree that this is a one man/woman bit of kit for the reasons mentioned - I wouldn't use it on my own and I am quite a "robust" sort of girl !

Saved me time, blisters and postfix
Having installed a number of fences over the years, digging 2 foot holes by hand, I'm aware of holes taking hours to dig and suffering blisters and jarring my arms slamming the spade into clay.So with a new fence run requiring holes between 24 and 30 inches deep I invested in this Auger. Drilling holes in clay and close to beach bushes it was not ideal conditions. I found it easier to use the blades in order opening up the hole as we went. Each time emptying the hole and cutting through the thicker roots with clippers or a saw. Also you have to remove large stones and bricks manually. All of this was expected from previous reviews. You do have to drill cautiously in case the machine snags on a rock or root, but you soon get used to it. The machine always started with a few pulls on the string. Holes took between 30 mins and 2 hours depending on the amount of rocks, roots and tea breaks.Pictures shows one of the last holes, nice smooth sides that require minimum postfix. With all that said, well worth the money and I would recommend the purchase.
