We used this for a Blue Ice ball mic, and the included adapter worked great. Also strong enough for a heavier item. Ball joint locks down pretty tight.

A versatile mount that uses the same vesa mounting pattern as most monitors. I’m using it to mount a 5lb (ish) microphone but you could use it for anything that is using the same mounting point such as lighting, cameras ect… Much cheaper than the heavy duty standalone microphone arms and takes up significantly less desk space if you have an existing monitor arm. The adjustable ball mechanism below the mounting point offers a large range of motion so you can position your devices freely.

So, totally understand that sideways mounting isn’t the intended use-case, but I wanted my camera level just above my monitor sight line, and also have the freedom to swivel the camera all the way around for a 90 degree overhead look.The biggest challenge was getting the mounting screw not to spin based on the camera weight. I had to use some rosette-style washers and even those aren’t 100%. Would be great if the base included a rotation lock hole as well. I could drill one, but haven’t gotten there yet.

Product description said it was steel, it's actually plastic though. It was also difficult to install the ball-head mount once the plastic bracket was installed onto the VESA mount.
