Wow!
I've had my Mag-lite for years, and in its day it was the best 3 cell torch available... Bit heavy on the batteries maybe. However, in recent years small LED torches have out shon it. I kept it and have been willing it to be better...£10.95 seemed a lot to pay for a modern upgrade... But I'm so glad I bought it.This bulb is easy to fit and astonishingly good. The torch is several times brighter and WHITE not yellow'y as before. Also the light travels... It doesn't just fade out.It has given the Mag-lite a new lease of life.. Good for years to come.

They work
Put one in a four cell and one in a six cell. Changover took about two minutes each. Both worked and gave an immediate increase in brightness and also better focussing of the bright spot. I'm guessing the brightness at about 100+ lumens. a huge difference compared to the original bulb and worth the price to me. Both torches are about 30 years old and if I get another 30 years out of them I will consider doing this better value than buying a $10 torch that might last a shorter time. Also even alkaline D cells will last a long time running these LEDs so no rechageable battery problems.

Maglite Revival
What a brilliant piece of kit! My old 3 D Cell Maglite was looking obsolete when compared to an inexpensive Cree LED torch that I recently bought. The light from the filament bulb in the Maglite used to be the dogs' but now it looks yellow and weedy compared to these modern LED upstarts. Unable to bring myself to dispose of the weighty Maglite, I bought this Cree LED bulb replacement. It was simple dimple to fit without any problems. Upon switch on, the light was white and strong and threw the beam a fair old way. I was impressed.Yeah for the price I could have bought a brand new torch but I didn't want to. Honour has now been restored to my Maglite and it can resume its place in the torch hierarchy. Also given that it's a hefty beast it will give any intruder a good old thwack, unlike those newer more svelte jobbies.

Great update for wonderful old Maglites -- but bulb does not come with a new retailer sleeve while others do.
Resurrects wonderful old style Maglites that have been lying in drawers for years. For this I am truly grateful. But, there is one negative with this particular LED bulb: not supplied with the threaded sleeve that holds the bulb in place. The original Maglite sleeves work perfectly, but other essentially identical LED's available via Amazon a new sleeve, which is nice to have just in case you need it at some point.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS CREE LED
I'd like to start this review by saying that I am delighted to have been able to breath some new life back into my trusty old 4 cell Maglite. The difference in light intensity and colour between the old bulb and this new Cree LED is like black and white. From softly lit warm to bright white. Fantastic! Would highly recommend this upgrade to any 4 cell Mag owners. Five stars. However, and I mention this only because of the irony and the humour I find therein, my £3 UltraFire with 300 lumens Cree LED outshines the Big Boy with its new 220 lumens Cree LED (rofl) - but so what as that's not the point. The only comparison that matters is between the old standard Mag bulb and this new Cree LED. And the new Cree LED wins hands down. And the big benefit to me is that I can once again start using my Big Mag which had been gathering dust because todays torches are smaller, lighter and brighter. Delighted, see pics. Mighty Atom !!!!
What can I say ? I usually wait till I get an e mail from Amazon asking for a review on an item I have purchased ... But in this case I'm not waiting for a promptMy 20 years plus 4 cell maglight had been pushed to the back of the shed outshone by the expensive to buy and to run surefire P9 ( batteries & bulb upgrade)which in turn was pushed down the pecking order by a couple of cheapo Cree sporting mini flashlights that were mega bright compared to the to afore mentioned flashlights, the maglight fell into my hands the other day whilst having a rummage and it still worked with the ancient batteries which I quickly checked hadn't leaked ....Mmmmm I wonder if anyone has done an upgrade of any sort on the maglight to give it a brighter beam ? A quick search on google showed there was and after reading a few reviews on this bulb I thought I have nothing to lose if it's not an improvement I'll send it back ....It arrived promptly well packaged in bubble wrap and in a proctective plastic box 10/10 there UpLedThe bulb itself was errrr this little thing is not going to impress ... Whatever is in the casing is magic !!!The normal bulb gave out a light I could only describe as a dying glow worm where as this is like a firefly on crack !Impressed is not the word Mega impressed plus is more like it even my wife who bought me the maglight many years ago was like wow !So the long and the short of it is if you have a maglight that is running the original bulb or any other bulb other than this ditch it and buy one of these you will not regret it it's Brilliant :0) pun intended

Brilliant
I was a bit sceptical about replacing the bulb in my Maglite (3D) because I've had it years and it's never let me down... but I've always been wary of how fast it could chew through batteries. This LED conversion to CREE is the BEST thing that could have happened to my torch. It's a pricy outlay, but the batteries are lasting longer and the light is sooo bright it puts the original halogen lamp to shame. I'd recommend this upgrade all day long.

The dark area in the beam, this needs to be improved.
I liked the brightness and longer battery life. I did NOT like the large black area in the middle of the beam.
