Gaucho Goods Soft Leather Dog Collar - Palm Desert (L)

I needed an affordable leather dog collar with fast shipping for my 10 month old Doberman puppy while waiting for her big girl Crazy Rebels collar to come in for the last four months. Her nylon collar was getting super dirty and unraveling, and I was so sick of looking at it. I was not expecting a whole lot from an Amazon collar, but this one looks great and is made out of genuine leather. The stitching is taut and looks like it won’t be coming undone anytime soon. For the price point, totally a steal for a handcrafted dog collar. Looks much nicer in person too!

When I received the collar, I noted right away it was composite leather (sometimes called "genuine leather"), and not full grain vegetable tanned leather. You can see the middle of the webbing that makes up the middle of the material in the holes for the buckle, and the surface is pebbly and clearly is not full grain, and looks like it might flake after some wear. I bought this collar because it was advertised as actual full grain leather, so I returned it and was disappointed. The seller should update the listing because it is not accurate.

I bought a large collar for our 9 mo. pitbull who is about 60 pounds. It is a beautiful collar and the leather itself appears durable. I received the package in the mail yesterday and by today the ring on the collar to attach to a line snapped and our dog ran loose. She had seen our neighbor and ran to greet him, pulling on the line on her collar. The ring is where we attach her name and rabies tags, so of course those fell off the collar once the ring snapped. Had I not been actively watching my dog outside, she would have easily wondered off and been lost. I would not recommend this collar, as it is not durable for a strong dog either on a line or if they pull on their leash at all.

This collar is great for the price point. The leather takes a bit to break in, showing the quality of the material. I have 2 of these collars, one for both of my labs. They are weekend warriors - hiking, swimming at the beach, etc. and the collars have held up great! Definitely quality material that will last for years to come. Both my labs fit into a Medium, but they are pretty small for their breed (55-60lbs). The Palm Dessert colorway is awesome for my yellow lab, while the chocolate looks great in "Cali Girl".Overall, great quality collars that I would not hesitate to buy again!

Very well made. I couldn't believe the quality of the collar for the price! Sturdy, bright colors, good leather, solid buckle and D ring. Leather just gets better with age.XL fit my 109lbs dog perfectly.Has survived rain, mud, running through bushes and even a bath. Very happy with my purchase!* can drink included for size reference*PRO TIP: when dirty wash with "saddle soap" or similar leather cleaner to keep the leather in good condition.

I've had this collar in my shopping cart for a while now. Many may months and finally pulled the trigger on buying it. I guess I should have looked more closely because I thought the leather was black. My fault. The collar itself is really nice and well put together. The leather does not feel cheap. Cannot speak of the long term survivability but think if you don't have a dog who likes to bite collars than you should be fine.

L O V E this collar. I got through a lot of collars with this German Shepard mix of mine. And this collar is probably the most sturdy one out of all of them. The color material that they put on is actually sturdy. I thought it was going to be loose string everywhere but it wasn’t. I love the colors and vibe the collar brings out. I would definitely buy again in different colors just cause. Haha Chico seems to love the collar so my work here is done. These collars are great for our Vizslas. Very earthy. well made and we feel like they will last a long time. We are not big on wardrobes for our dogs. These collars make a statement of their own. Each design we picked fits them. Have had many positive comments.
