Good investment - Better than expected from comments
Before adding this solar charger we were having to recharge the doorbell about every 2 weeks (lots of movement triggers).Installed this on 10th March and now (22nd April) its still 100% charged, despite us not getting a huge amount of sunshine (east facing wall shaded by next door's house).I'm slightly surprised as there were several comments about poor performance in winter, and some comments that it only charges when battery falls below about 90%. Not sure why the discrepancies, but YMMV.Retro-fitting is easy as it mounts on the same hole pattern as the original doorbell.

A Must-Have Accessory for Ring Doorbell Users!
I absolutely love this Ring Solar Charger! I was constantly having to recharge my battery doorbell every few weeks, which became a bit of a hassle. Since adding the solar charger (2nd generation), I haven’t had to worry about the battery at all. It keeps the doorbell topped up even on cloudy days, and installation was super simple—just a few screws and it was good to go.It looks sleek and fits perfectly with the doorbell design. I also appreciate that it doesn’t add much bulk. It's been a few months now and the battery percentage hasn’t dropped below 90%. If you want a low-maintenance solution for keeping your Ring doorbell charged, this is it. Highly recommended!

Faulty ring doorbell solar charger.
This particular solar charger is not working. I have set it up facing day/sun light 12 hours possible charging. I checked the ring doorbell, it had gone to 4% charge so I removed it and fully charged the doorbell before reinstalling it back on the solar. The charge is sill depleting. I have checked connections, cleaned all contacts and still no joy.

Will need direct sunlight ☀️
This ‘solar charger’ is a small 0.57W charging mount which looks great.I roughly calculated that the 33Wh ring battery, with a 3 month battery life would only require around 0.3Wh of charge per day. Or in other terms, 45minutes of ‘direct’ sunlight a day (without clouds) to maintain the battery 🔋 charge. On a very sunny day, this solar charger mount can charge the battery by around 2-4% (in the day obviously). It will hold (maintain) the charge % on lightly cloudy days and will ‘reduce the battery drain speed’ (slightly discharge) on rainy days. The battery will drain by 1-2% overnight, so a you are looking at between 3% charge (over 24hours) to 2% discharge per day dependent on conditions. This means a battery with full charge will still require charging (depending on location) once or twice a year over winter. In summer this solar charger can charge / sustain the battery, but you will likely need to charge the battery in December and February (even in direct sunlight). This should help you temper your expectations of this charge mount. Note the battery will not start charging until <85% charge to reduce chemical ageing. Much easier than changing a battery every 5/6 weeks.

Very good. Seeing longer battery life.
Without this solar charger, a battery would last on average for about 25 days, with the power dropping from 100% to 30%. However, with this solar charger connected, it has been in excess of 30 days so far where the battery has not dropped below 80% which is very good! The charger is West facing, so it gets a good amount of general daylight and sun and on a nice day. Will see how this fairs during the Winter months. I expect the charging to lessen. Apart from that, it's great piece of kit to have and I would recommend getting one, especially if your video doorbell is in place where there's a good spell of sunlight.

Not very good for UK without direct sun.
I bought a solar charger for my rear door Ring 4 (south facing), installed last week of February , and tested for 2 weeks. To be honest, it doesnt really benefit unless you get at least a few hours of direct sun a day. You will otherwise see the battery level going down daily even with very light use. The mini solar panel is not really up to the job in low light for UK. With hind site I would probably have bought the larger solar panel charger, as I could put this on a fence, and would probably work better in lower light. On 3 / 4 occasions over the last 2 weeks on test, it also does not show connected on the App, even below 80% battery level , and did not seem to charge at all. (note: It took a day or so, to show that its connected / charging when first connected, which is really not very clever, as you really need instant way to check its working - this is normal apparently ).A reboot through the app seems to be needed to resolve on the few occassions it seem to stop working. This may be a firmware issue so will give it a few months to see if it improves on connectivity .I assume if the solar pack battery drops to a low level, it forgets that its connected. As long as it charges in Spring / Summer, then I dont mind having to charge manually once a month in the darker months. So will give 3 star for now, and will update in a few months, if improves.*** Update *** - Ring support kindly contacted me via amazon and offered to send me a new larger solar panel to test. Great service ! Will update with results ,

What a great purchase this item is , and in hindsight , should have purchased one a long time ago.
What a great purchase this item is , and in hindsight , should have purchased one a long time ago. I know changing the RING battery is not a major task but fitting this solar panel just has removed the need of any sort of maintainance. Having had this for 10 months now , not once have I had to replace a flat battery , this solar unit just keeps the battery topped up , even through the very dull winter months. Very easy to install and like everything with RING , you can monitor via your phone App. Good build quality , good value for money.

Very good charger
battery was at 69% charge when i installed this solar charger. its now at 91% after 2 months and i am very impressed. I live in UK and we have a lot of cloudy days and this tiny panel manages to keep battery topped up.
