Low Vol. 1: The Delirium of Hope

AMAZING
THIS BOOK IS AMAZING. The colour usage is incredible! Comic books always waste their potential by not recognisig that colour itself can tell a story and LOW does exactly that!! The review about too much colour having negative impact in the ability to follow along is ridiculous. This comic exceeded all my expectations. I could understand everything that was happening in each panel. I HIGHLY recommend comic book fans to give this a read for the art work alone.

Low is my favourite comic. Story is great
Low is my favourite comic. Story is great, and the artwork is the most beautiful I've ever seen. Really truly beautiful style and colours.Low was my gateway into apocalyptic comics, though if you're looking for anything else with a similar feel, I haven't found it yet.Other greats:-East of West-Lazarus-Descender-Roche Limit-Autumnlands-Hinterkind-Saga-Pretty Deadly-Y the Last Man-Black ScienceThere are more but I forget.

Low is a great concept!
LOW, plays on the idea that the suns radiation has become to much for life on the surface of earth so humanity has descended to the oceans. It is a great concept a brilliant storyline, that uses fear of the unknown and fear in general to kick start the comic, it also shows how fear changes a person. The only bad point with the comic is that there is not much character development over the comic it would have been nice to have seen more context as to why a certain character acted the way they were.Overall defiently worth a read and the service was excellent arrived quickly and nicely packaged

Wondeful story with quality art
Just got this yesterday n just finished reading it. And....it's seriously brilliant. Rick Remender wrote a brilliant piece which holds a lot of emotion, hope and sadness and Greg Tocchini's artwork reflects that with beauty and such detail and fitness. They work together beautifully and can't imagine this any differently. It's a great story, you've read the description, I will just say give it a read yourself, won't be disappointed at all

A great concept executed poorly
"LOW Volume 1" is based around such an amazing concept that I was so excited to read about: what happens to the human race when our sun turns into a red giant. With the human race living deep under the ocean (or LOW), running out of clean air, their only hope for survival is to search for a new planet that can support life. However the idea is let down significantly by both the art work, which at times is near impossible to tell what is going on, and the story line, which sometimes sees characters doing things that are not very believable. Another flaw with the story is that I do not feel a strong bond to any of the characters at the moment, in a way that if any of them were to die, I would be unmoved. There is one more slight redeeming quality of the comic: Optimism. It is not often I have read so much optimism radiating from one character, Stel. Her outlook on life is to always hope and believe that everything will work out well in the end, not dwelling on depressing thoughts. I found this to be a breath of fresh air throughout the comic and is something I have tried to translate in my own life; to keep happy thoughts in my mind and not negative. This quality is not enough alone however for me to form a bond with her.So the question is: will I read the next volumes? Yes. I am still hanging to the hope that the concept will pull the future volumes into something better and will develop the characters into people I begin to care about. With regards to the art work, I guess I can continue to put up with the confusing panels which I will have to study for a few minutes until I understand what is going on.

A perfect read!
This is an absolutely fantastic story fully of interesting concepts. It's fantastic to find a story like this, that's a change of pace from the generic marvel and DC stories. This is a perfect post-apocolyptic sci-fi story with amazing narrative, art and colour-work throughout. A perfect read.

I find that that the beautiful art and setting completely make up for these flaws
While I agree with the criticisms of the weak story and the preachiness of the main character. I find that that the beautiful art and setting completely make up for these flaws.

Really good idea, done well
Really good idea, done well. The artwork and colouring has an original style and aids the story well; the story itself is well told and the characters are interesting. It leaves you wanting more.

Bueno TPB

based pretty much on the cover and a mention of "Bioshock"
Picked this up on the side of a comic order.. based pretty much on the cover and a mention of "Bioshock". Really enjoyed it, so much so I think I'll bring it to the top of my list of series to read. I'm really liking the themes of the story. The characters are great and their stories kept me interested until the end. Book has a great sense of world building and lore in a unique undersea world. I found the book very colourful, and it's one of the biggest & cheapest graphic novels I own.Only issue I found was that the art style was unique and simple at parts in a way it was a little hard to tell what's was going on, especially with detailed backgrounds.
A**!
