Paul Nash (British Artists)

Thoroughly enjoyed, totally recommended.
A neat sized book [most art books tend to be large in size] easy to use on train/or waiting for appt. Very well illustrated with excellent commentary on each work. Life of artist well researched and presented in a very readable format. In this anniversary year of World War 1 it provides an insight to the front and the home front.

A good introduction
A nice book, the narrative is interesting and very readable - I often only ever look at the pictures in art books, but this is worth reading. The pictures are good; the only criticism I have is that there are not enough of them. But I find it very difficult to get art books with lots of pictures. Essentially, you need to see them in a bookshop, but that's not so easy these days. This is a good value book, who knows if it's even possible to find anything better?

Nash-ional Treasure?
David Boyd Haycock's short introduction to the work of the British painter Paul Nash is excellent, lavishly illustrated and perceptively written. It was first published in 2002 and is one of a series of monographs issued by Tate Modern.Nash is best known perhaps for his work as a war artist, covering the horrors of WWI. This period of his career is well covered but what Haycock also show us is Nash's work as a fine landscape artist, sometimes moving into work clearly inspired by the Surrealists. His delicate ink, water-colour and chalk drawings are a revelation to me and an aspect of his work that I would like to explore further. While Paul Nash may not be one of the greatest of modern artists, he is a British painter of some importance and this book serves him well.

British Artist series
This is an excellent series to give a basic understanding of the various artists it covers. Paul Nash was well written and intelligently edited. My one disappointment was the quality of the binding.

Reprint quality poor.
There was not much selection when it came to looking for a book of Paul Nash's works. Unfortunately, I do not recommend this book as the reprints of the Nash works are either washed out or too dark.
