Excellent quality life saving device!!!
This is a fantastic product. I have tested these multiple times and they work very well. Plus they took everything good that was the CAT tourniquet and made it better. They got rid of the weak point with the addition of the aluminum windlass and adding the finger hole. The finger hole was not a absolute necessity but definitely doesn't hurt anything. The aluminum windlass gives you extra confidence you will not break it under stress. I know the arguments for the windlass issue, but crap happens under stress and weak points show themselves at the most inopportune times(no one is perfect 100% of the time, close maybe, not perfect). I have switched all my tourniquets out to RM. These are NOT airsoft garbage. The velcro sticks very well, even when bloody and/or dirty(which is what I expect). This is why I cringe when I read reviews on other tourniquets on Amazon that people are buying to actually use on real injuries, when I have tested them and wouldn't use them on an enemy let alone myself or someone I care about. I am a SWAT/SWAT Medic certified LEO and a critical care RN. Not saying my words are gospel, but I do know what works. When properly applied they easily cut arterial flow to extremities. There are many good tourniquets out there from reputable companies, Recon Medical just seems to have a little better product than the others and at half the price. Very hard to beat. I dont know these guys and they don't give me anything for free(although I would gladly accept😉😉😉). This is just a great tourniquet that you can depend on. You won't be disappointed.P.S. Anyone that has bought a discount/airsoft tourniquet and intends to use it as an actual life saving device, please reconsider. Don't save it as a back up. Just pitch it, chuck it up as a loss and get a proper tourniquet. Whether Recon Medical(best in my opinion), CAT, SOF-T, SWAT-T, RAT, etc. Just get a good name brand and get training in its proper use. Tourniquets work only when applied properly and even then it can still take two of them to stop the bleeding. Training, training, training!!!I truly hope this review is helpful to those considering purchasing a tourniquet.

Buyer beware
I have purchase 6 of these over the years. After reading the reviews and checking back on the first ones that I got I noticed that they had a plastic windlass as in the picture. :-( The last four have had metal windlasses. :-) TBT I'm not sure about the material in one of them because it is in another vehicle that is currently out of state. :-? The first two were ordered together so I am pretty sure it will be plastic also.Be sure of what you are ordering and check the materials used. I saw other reviewers discussing this same issue that thought they had received knockoffs. Here's what I believe to be true. The good ones have lot numbers, expiration dates, metal windlasses and Rencon on the adjustment buckle.Check yours as soon as you receive it. I bought my first two in May of 2016 and thankfully have not had to use them. I'm pretty sure they're the ones with the plastic windlasses. The buckle on the one in the picture doesn't have the Rencon name, lot number or expiration date. I'll check the other one as soon as the other vehicle is closer. ;-)I checked back on my original order and I believe that it shows the current item info. If the original order showed the original item description I could determine if I got what I ordered or a knockoff as some other reviewers noted.FWIW I like the ones with the name on the buckle, lot numbers, exp date and metal windlass.I hope I never have to use them. Better to have and not need.

Appears to be a solid TQ
I have several TQs including another very popular and similar one to this. Fortunately I have never used any of them for real. In appearance and practice the recon TQ is almost identical to another branded highly regarded TQ. In a few minor ways I feel the recon has the edge but again, these are nice extra features but certainly not deal breakers. The aluminum windless, finger hole and “maybe” the Kevlar stitching. What really sets it apart is the quality to value ratio. From a functional design standpoint it is the exact same as other popular, proven and approved TQs and I honestly don’t know how anyone could possibly debate this point. The only question could possibly be the durability due to less real usage over time. I see comments regarding failures after repeated use in training scenarios. I suspect if you use anything long enough repeatedly it may fail. This is generally a one time real life use device. I feel very confident that this device will function as intended if/when utilized. Until someone does for example a comparison between the recon and a similar brand of say 1k or more times, applying them to the same object using the same pressure and demonstrates that the recon is significantly inferior from a failure rate standpoint I will continue to stick with the recon. If in doubt I’d suggest just purchasing one and giving it a look, or try (training), before dismissing this as a solid, and potentially better option than some others.

Get training, the life you save might be your own.
These are good to go. I have purchased several of these over the years and would not hesitate to recommend.

Good overall TQ
I was initially impressed with this product due to the cost and it's likeness to a CAT. I keep one of these on a bag I carry with me daily. I have left this bag in the car several times over the last month. The adhesive holding the velcro for The windlass strap has failed. I keep a CAT China kids in the same car and have done so for the last two years. The adhesive on the CAT has held up to the same heat without issue.Other than that I have no complaints. This tourniquet effectively cuts off blood flow on my arm and thigh and The windlass and velcro holds up to the pressure.Edit: 4-4-20I've upped the review on these. I feel the ones I bought for training have held up very well in the time I've had them. The breakdown if adhesive is by no means a deal breaker. This is a great alterntive to the pricier cat and I'm sure they will be TCCC approved in before too long if not already.I've purchased another in a premade IFAK offered by recon medical.
