Works super well
A little work to install but well worth it. If you have a curved front can be sure to account for that (either side mount or do a crisscross on the front). Keeps the critters out.

Stronger than a black bear
We live in the forest and bought this for a trash bin outside. The cheap plastic bin we bought did not win, but those straps held up like a champ. It was the only part that looks untouched.

Totally keeps the bears out!!
So far so good! We have had multiple bears of all sizes desperately try to pry it open but to no avail. This is a lifesaver, no more trekking through the woods trying to retrieve your garbage.

UPDATED REVIEW LID LOCKS 6 BEAR 0
The media could not be loaded. We have a bear in the neighborhood, who, a neighbor reports, is a very big one. Being a relocated city boy myself, I was unprepared to do battle to secure my garbage can. One bungee, two, then three, failed to prevent the bear from getting inside and spreading my garbage hither and yon. The bear is strong enough to stretch tight bungees enough to extract garbage from the can without disconnecting them.I know that the seller only represents these will work with medium sized animals but seeing nothing that claims to work against bears other than a $900 can, I thought I would give it a shot. I bought two sets so enable me to secure the sides as well as the front. Installation took some time but was easy enough. The quality of the cables and the hardware looks good. I won’t rate durability until we see how the product performs over time. The bear retuned last night and my wife was awakened to the distant sound of the can being banged around. When I went down to the can this morning, everything was still intact.I would like to see a method to attach the carabiner when it is not secure, as I’m guessing they will get lost over time; it’s asking too much for the driver to unfasten them, hold on to them, and put them back.I reserve the right to modify this review when I see the bear’s next efforts.Another night, another knock-down by the bear, but again, he did not get inside.LID-LOCKS 2 BEAR 0So, about a week has passed and the bear has made several, unsuccessful attempts to get into the can. Also, the garbage man came and evidently had no problem opening the can and dumping it using the automatic mechanism on his truck. All four carabiners were reattached. The company, very reasonably, charges less than a dollar per pick-up for the driver to get out of his cab and unlock the latches before dumping. So, as of now, I am totally satisfied. I look forward to hibernation season though.
