CaseSmall White Texas Toothpick Pocket Knife

This is my second Case and it's a beautifully crafted little pocket knife. Although they cost a bit more, you really can't beat Case for quality and finish. They're knives you can really love.Since the description is a bit lean, know that this is Case XX Knife Item # 28703, CHESTNUT SMOOTH BONE SMALL TEXAS TOOTHPICK, Pattern Number: 610096 SS. The SS means that it has a surgical stainless steel blade, rather than their other "CV" (chromium vanadium), non-stainless option. I have a Case Peanut in CV, and think blade material boils down to personal preference. They're both highly polished, very sharp, and though the CV should loose it's luster over time, it doesn't much unless you cut fruit (and it does polish back up). Though it's hard to tell from the photo, the handle of this chestnut bone small toothpick is quite smooth and has a very high-gloss finish that contrasts nicely with the polished nickel bolsters. The knife is 3" closed, 5.25" open and the blade is 2.25". It's very slim and light. You won't notice it in your pocket.If you're looking for this style knife (the exaggerated curve, long front bolster reminiscent of a silver-toed cowboy boot, and thin scimitar-like blade aren't everyone's taste and isn't honestly my first choice), you should be quite happy with this one. I gave it 5 stars because the materials, quality, and finish are great. Style boils down to personal preference. If the price is a bit high for your comfort, check out one with the yellow synthetic handles. Buck also sells a much cheaper Chinese-made, wood handle version - the Buck 385 Toothpick.Hope this helps.

I picked one of these up after noticing it is about the same size as the famous Peanut model, also by Case. I had been carrying the Peanut for a couple weeks, and I really liked it, so I decided to give this one a try.My thought was that maybe this would be even BETTER for everyday urban pocket carry, since it is only one layer thick, and has a bit longer handle and blade.I found that, true to it's name, the blade is thin and pointy enough that it DOES do a fair impression of a toothpick, better than the Peanut in that regard.I also found that the thin blade is slightly better at things like peeling fruit. The tip does have a bit of flex to it though, so plan on doing any heavy cutting toward the base of the blade.The handle shape has that graceful curve, that to me, looked a little bit hillbilly, but it really does fit well in the palm of the hand.The blue bone handles are really well executed; they're a nice dark cobalt blue in the jigging, and kind of a royal blue at the edges.I would buy this knife again in a heartbeat. If you find your daily cutting to be more on the heavy side, like sectioning boxes of light, then get the Peanut. Otherwise, try this one.I'm an electrical engineer by day, and I spend most of my time at a desk. I use this knife most for peeling and cutting up apples. When I'm down in the lab, I use it to cut off little lengths of electrical tape for bundling thermocouples and for stripping wire. When I'm not using it, it is even less obtrusive than the Peanut, since it is thinner and about half the weight.I like the knife so much, I'm looking for a medium sized peanut now. The only ones Case makes, they're trying to make them all exclusive; putting them in special series' and such. Buck's toothpick is Chinese made, no thanks to that. Great Eastern Cutlery makes a couple of nice medium sized toothpicks; one with two blades and one with one. I think it is their #12 design.

Excellent quality--it's a great replacement for the Buck toothpick I inadvertently left in my backpack that was subsequently confiscated at the air port. (The scissors I had in my backpack, which the TSA didn't have a problem with, could have done more harm than the toothpick. Yes, rules are rules--and dumb rules are rules, too.) The Buck was actually a very good quality knife, and it was razor sharp! I would recommend it, too. But, it was given to me; and I simply could not bring myself to purchasing a knife made in China when Case offers an alternative that is Made in the USA! The Case is also razor sharp. (Don't ask me how I know!) The size is perfect for taking along on a cruise. Just make sure it's in your checked luggage on your way to the port.

I have purchased two Case Texas Toothpicks from Amazon in the past two years or so. A blue bone stainless one and also a chestnut bone chrome vanadium one. And I love both! They really are beautiful, small knives. Be aware that the Texas Toothpick is quite small, about 3 inches long closed. And the blade is fairly thin, so it is a light duty knife and excels at delicate tasks. I usually carry a bigger knife of some sort in addition to a smaller knife, like this Case Texas Toothpick or a Case Peanut. This blue bone knife arrived to me in excellent condition. The blade was quite sharp, too. The fit and finish is excellent. Also, the blade has a good snap to it. And I love the look of the blue bone. This knife would do well in an office setting or in a formal setting. It definitely is a capable piece of pocket jewelry. Due to its size, people aren’t likely to notice it much, but if they do happen to see it they will gasp and exclaim over its beauty. This knife would make an excellent gift or just an addition to your everyday carry (edc). I carry it often and find a lot of uses for it. Just be careful not to lose it. It weighs almost nothing and often slips out of my pants pocket. I have taken to stuffing a handkerchief in the same pocket to prevent losing my Toothpick. If you are a fan of small slipjoint knives, I very highly recommend this knife. Two thumbs up! 👍

Case knives are a little higher priced than other knives but you get what you pay for. They are great collector pieces
