Freewheel failure after 250 miles
I rebuild my winter bike driveline yearly and was delighted to find a 'Shimano free' solution to a seven speed 13/28 freewheel. Unfortunately after only 250 miles the freewheel has failed (wheel off, move the cassette from side to side and it crunches horribly). Sadly cannot recommend seven speed, looks like too much overhang load on the freewheel mechanism (its a long way back from cogs 6 and 7). I have a 5 speed on another bike and its ok.Have tried seeing if I can contact the seller but there is no method to do so so just recording my experience here and putting it down to just that. With regret buying a Shimano 7 now.

Recommended for fans of the freewheel
This item is actually produced by Sun Race-Sturmey Archer and made in Taiwan. Sun Race were paramount in continuing to produce freewheel gear sets when the fashion was for cassettes. Since then, many cyclists have come to prefer the freewheel and so Sun Race-Sturmer Archer have found a good market. This set, with a 7-speed range of 13 to 28 is ideal for commuting and light touring. For more arduous and hilly terrain you would probably want a lower bottom gear, but this set is perfect for what it has been designed for. It is smartly produced in chromed steel and well-finished with slightly profiled teeth to allow easier movement of the chain between gears. I'm using it with a KMC 7-speed chain and a Shimano 3 x chainwheel set. Two things I particularly noticed. First, it changes beautifully and snicks neatly and quietly between gears. Second, it is virtually silent when freewheeling. How did they do that, then?! With the KMC 'silent' chain I now have a silent bike! In summary, this is an excellent and well-made product, especially bearing in mind the reasonable price, with which I am well pleased and can heartily recommend.
