Comfortable, dry and durable.... Perfect walking shoe for all weathers!
I walk every day.... no really, every day. Having a high energy dog means that I get to brave the weather no matter what it is. These shoes have been put through their paces having owned them now for around 8 months they are still holding up well.Still completely waterproof and very comfortable. I LOVE the quick laces which have also lasted very well.I suspect the rubber soles of the shoes will be the first thing to give way through the extended use.Having gone through lots of shoes previously that either gave me hard skin on my feet, failed the waterproof test after a few months or just perished I decided to buy another pair of these to keep until these need to be replaced.Excellent shoes!

Great general purpose hiking shoe
Got a pair of these XA PRO 3D GTXs to complement my old GTX X Ultra 3s. These primarily differ in that they have a rigid plastic arch plate.Objectively, this makes them easier to use for long trail hikes over rocky ground but on the flip side they do take a bit of time to wear in and mold to the foot (the X Utras fit like a glove pretty much from day 1).The sole tread seems similar to the X Utras, in that it's quite soft so they do wear. (the X Ultra 4's look like they've got a longer lasting tread pattern). I reckon I'll get maybe 250-300kms out of them by the time the lugs under the sole are worn pretty low. I'd have liked Salomon to use a slightly harder compound: the uppers are still going strong but the soles are dying. Both mine are GTX and it's a nice to have when it's wet. I don't have any issues using them in the heat. The autolacing system works great and I find them very comfortable, even if you have to tighten them every couple of hours. You have to do that with laces too, so the convienience is great. All in all these are both great trail hiking shoes and light enough to run with for shorter distances. If you are carrying serious weight you may want something with a hardered tread compound as the do wear fairly quickly. The flip side of this is they provide sure footed grip on most surfaces, even in the wet.Recommended, I'd give them 4.6 stars, dropping the 0.4 points because I wish they had a little more durable (longer lasting) soles, but well worth it if you can get them at a discounted price.

High price but good product
This is my second salomon shoes. Good quality product. Last long. Nice pattern and colour. Laces make the life easy.

I think I would like to give it 4
I think I would like to give it 4.5 stars. The size is rather narrow for my foot and it is a tight fit, but maybe it is just more accurate than the other shoes and tried. I love the rugged, booty feel of them which maybe why they take a while to wear in. I be interested in trying a pari a half a size larger than what I normally get to compare. Side issues aside, they are truly a wicked shoe, I use it for jogging on concrete and sprinting on wet grass. On concrete they feel solid and bouncy, got a nice feel to them. On grass they keep my feet dry and work well on difficult terrain. I love the lacing system and there are loads of nice features, worth the price.

Brilliant Shoe
Firstly I suffer from Plantar Fasciitis in my right heel, I was looking for a firm heel in a trainer and read the reviews on these, I can confirm these are amazing and after just 2 days my foot is feeling much better. My only tip is if your a size 9 then get a 9.5 as they are a tight fit as I found out when I ordered the 9 and had to return them. But 100% recommend these

The shoes were brand new - I wasn't expecting that - absolutely delighted
The shoes replaced a pair of size 10 shoes that were exactly the same - I wear a size 9 gentlemans shoe (Loakes/Jones's) but need a 10 in Nike etc. Have always bought size 10 xa pro 3d Gore Tex in black but in 2022 walked around Disney Paris in the Salomon only for both big toes to turn black. It took me over a year to grow out the disgusting nails. Being tight I was determined to wear the shoes out before trying a 10.5. They've arrived - I bought used but as good as new and OMG they are like brand new and really do fit so much better. As my big toes had worn through the gore tex in the old ones - thrilled to be waterproof again. These shoes really are legends - love the v7 version for grip and durability and will buy as long as there is stock.

Soles hanging off after 9 months of next to no real use
It pains me to write this review as up until today they were 5 star walkers for me, and I had no issues rebuying butToday I noticed the sole of the shoe was hanging off, both shoes, surly this has to be a strange defect I bought these end of April 2020, I have not been walking as much as I would have expected to due to lockdowns but after only 9 months of next to no real use I would expect the sole to still be attached 😅I am gutted as they were the most comfortable footwear I’ve ever worn, perfect fit and so comfortable. I didn’t even care that the gortex wasn’t really that dry die to the comfortReally gutted they have done this as I want another pair already but I’ve never had a pair of walkers ruin like this ever, even after years of use :(

Very happy with my purchase
First of all, as most reviewers have pointed out, get a half or full size larger than you need. I'm normally a size10 and ordered the 10.5 and they're perfect.I've had a couple of different Salomon shoes up to getting these. I've had the Salomon Men's X Ultra 2 GTX Low Rise Hiking Shoes as well as the high rise version. They were both excellent, one replacing the other as they wore out. My biggest and only complaint being I was less than impressed with the tread grip. They were pretty aweful in my opinion compared to others I've used. The good news is these shoes don't suffer from poor tread grip. They're much better by a long way. They're very comfortable, as all Salomon's are needing no break-in at all. They're (so far) water-proof, and have the same lace-up system I really like and works well. I think Salomon have learnt a lot over the years and continuously put effort into developing better shoes whereas other makes seem not to care and make the same mistakes and don't appear to listen to customers.
