Great all-around saltwater rod for boat fishing. Can push it a bit for lighter use (some casting) as well. Convenient size
Absolutely amazing. I was a little worried it would be too heavy for my intended fishing, which was near-shore boat fishing (flounder, bluefish, stripers, or anything wandering about). I used it with a nice saltwater Penn reel and they performed flawlessly. I took this on a vacation trip to Cape Cod and the size of the carrying case (w/ rod inside) was short enough to fit inside my checked baggage (plastic samsonite suitcase). The aluminum reel seat is very well made and so are the tightening rings. Ceramic inserts are great and the finish and quality throughout is outstanding. I really like this rod and I think it is not oversized for its weight rating. Of course, if you are fishing for 2lb trout on this it will be overkill and lack the sensitivity, but for its intended saltwater use, I think it is a great all-around boat-fishing rod. And it will also cast pretty well: I was casting into the wind with a heavy spoon and althought it didn't flex all that much, it can handle a variety of "loads" from a medium size spoon to a good sized sinker without any issues. Nice case on the spoon and no risk of breaking with the sinker. Very good "one fits all" rod.

Really nice rod.
Bought this so I could travel with it without a lot of hassle, and was not disappointed. It's easy to carry and put in the overhead on the plane. Case should be a little tougher and rigid. If you get some gorilla pushing his bag really hard against this I can see where the rod might sustain damage. This is one tough rod!! With the heavier tip I caught Blackfin tuna, a nice Wahoo, two 20-25lb. groupers. Had one especially stubborn fish I could not get up(probably a large Grouper). With the rod butt in a good fighting belt I had all my bodyweight with the drag tightened down, rod bent in half trying to get the fish to come up, and did not break the rod. That was my test!! If that did not break the rod it's a great rod. I would not be afraid to use this rod against a 150lb. Yellowfin tuna. Is this a Marlin rod? Of course not, but it will handle just about anything up to 200lbs combined with the correct reel in my humble opinion. Is no good for bottom fishing in 200' of water(to long), but I caught the Groupers in 40' and it's fine for that. Considering the price I paid, it is an unbeatable deal.

Best travel rod ever!
As a self professed fishing addict I have traveled word wide for the past 30+ years and have owned many fishing rods of all kinds including several travel rods. This particular rod is far and away, hands down the best I’ve used. It packs into a case not much larger than one for a pool cue, fits in the overhead of any commercial jet and gets through security without any problem. This model has 4 parts including 2 different weight tips. Can be fished with light-medium reel and tackle but much more suited for the largest saltwater spinning reels. I frequently use a Shimano Stella 10,000 and have never failed with that combo. It also comes in a conventional model suitable for Penn “50 wides” to even 70 or “80 wides”. Be sure to keep the joints clean as they fit together very snugly and you should gently find your “sweet spot” that holds all day yet comes apart when you are done.

Looks nice, Very strong rod
Looks nice, Very strong rod, good for trolling from the boat possibly can handle very large fish 100 pounds plus, did not like it for my stile of fishing, and after few hours of casting out doing inshore fishing, the last piece felt out with the lure, did not loose it because is all attached to the line, but I lost confidence in it, also too stiff and heavy for casting longer for more than few hours. The fact that the parts don't fully insert together and are stiff that makes it very likely that they will detach at one point and that for a fishing equipment is a no no. I will not recommended it. 3 stars because looks good , is strong and possibly if you just sit in the boat trolling it can handle a goog size fish. ( as long as does not detach sometime in between)

Geat rod for reefs and trolling (update) 3/3/2020
The media could not be loaded. This is a killer rod, I parried it with a Penn Spinfisher V 7500. Probably could have gone one size smaller on the reel, but I need the line capacity as I use this mostly for trolling. Spooled with 65 lb nylon braid and 35 lb fluorocarbon leader.Comes with two tips and a great case. ( Update on the case) While the case looks great, the zippers are not high quality, and you need to rinse the salt off.( I never took the case on deck BTW) I lubed them up with cooking spray and they work ok now, but I guessing they wont last. I had to drop the rating one star because of this. Still a great, great rod. No problems taking it on the plane all the way to Mexico. (southwest)Caught a lot of fish and the biggest King Mackerel of my life. (Check out the vid.) The handle fits well in 1 1/2 PVC for holder.People were amazed to find it was a three piece...Buy it

Pricey but well worth it in the long run!! THEY CATCH FISH!
This is my third one of these rods. I have two of the lighter duty ones as well. They are awesome for traveling and probably my fav rods out of all I own. They are pricey up front, but if you travel, like to fish and find yourself hunting down rods when you get to your destination - just make the investment! We tried buying cheapies once, but that's what you get - crap! Then you're fumbling with crappy equipment rather then fishing. Then what do you do when you are heading home? You can pass them off to someone else or ship them back, which is what we did a long time ago. Buying two crappy rod/reel setups plus shipping in a long tube = $125, just for one trip.If you make the investment, you won't be disappointed!! Great quality rods! I have mine matched up with PENN Fierce Reels. Inshore & beach fishing in Florida.

Nothing but the best;
I now have three of the wonderful Rods, very strong, and I use my rods with Penn battle 2- two 6000 and one 8000. Together my set up with these three rods and reels are 100% ready to take on the largest of the saltwater Striped Bass, and I have caught plenty of big ones. Yes; This is a must if you would like to fish like I do, good luck and all the very best in catching the big ones.

Best rod ever also has a sea look.
Amazing. I love this rod. Got a 500lb hammerhead on this rod. Was the best thing in the world. Out passed everything I thought about it. I'm going to order more since you will never go wrong. This rod also look amazing. I love just taking it out to look at. Reminds me of the sea!! I would recommend this to any fishers not just travelers.
