I looked at a lot of basic fixtures like this, but so many looked extremely flimsy and cheap. Again and again, THIS was the one I returned to. For the money, this is a great way to show off a decorative light bulb. It’s made of natural and black finished, genuine wood - I *think* white oak, due to the grain. As a nice touch, the power cord is a black and white chevron-style pattern. While I’m using a smart RGB Edison bulb with mine, there IS an inline, on-off power toggle on the cord. Mine arrived with a small scuff on the front due to inadequate packaging (a thin box, which it popped out of during shipping), but the damage is subtle enough not to be worth an exchange.As for any cons, this lamp base ideally would have contained a lead weight. It’s extremely light-weight, so the weight of the cord can send the lamp sliding. In the least, a grippy base vs. the actual gray felt would have helped. Do be prepared for either adding some rubber feet, or quake wax, or at least ensuring the cord isn’t dangling such that the lamp could be pulled off of a table.Having said that, this was a gifted off my wish list after a lot of research for alternatives, and I’m very pleased with it!
