MagTool Nano AIO Tank Protein Skimmers for All in One Reef Tank up to 35-45Gallon (DC-SQ50)

Update 2.7.23 customer support great. Replaced with a skimmer that fit. 5 star after contact. Skimmer is a beast. Took a few days to tune, but when going, it goes. Skimmer works great. Awesome skim in 3 days. Update 1/25/2023/ working with seller on smaller version of skimmer... will update again when receive new skimmer. The response by seller is quick and looks like resolved issue fairly fast. If all goes well with new skimmer 5 Star rating updateI will start by saying the build quality seems to be good, all the cuts are clean and everything fits, I would compare the quality to some more expensive skimmers I have. I went with this because it seemed to be the only skimmer I could find that had volume and stated "fits in Fiji Cube 32." I tried every angle, every height, there is absolutely no way this fits in skimmer chamber of the Fiji Cube 32 AIO. The only way it would ever fit, would be if you remove the "hang on" attachment" and then submerge it so as to sit directly on floor of the chamber, which tried (no good), the water level is way to hi and the fit is so tight it is not anywhere sitting at 90 angle. Or only other option... hanging directly in the display. And I will give the benefit of the doubt and give 5 stars to material and build, but.... I never had it running.

Finally a high quality nano skimmer!!! This skimmer is very well made and easy to adjust with a little turn of the body. I set this up and it was producing dark skim after a couple days. The quality of material and equipment used is top notch. I was previously using an Icecap skimmer and it does not even compare by a long shot to this Magtool. The pump is great and much larger than other skimmers. This skimmer actually fits in my Waterbox 20 cube as described and is virtually silent. Other skimmers required them to go in other than described and were very loud, being myself it drove me nuts. My only suggestion is more detailed instructions. If you are familiar with skimmers it is not an issue, but if it is your first one more helpful instructions would help. I highly recommend this skimmer and will be purchasing more for future tanks.

Bought this in early April 2024. Quit working today after less than 70 days of operating time. I cleaned it and it won’t power back on. I tested the outlet and surge protector and they’re both fine. The skimmer was very difficult to adjust and doesn’t fit well in a Aquatop’s Recife24. I would not recommend this. I noticed it took a while to turn on initially but, from other reviews this sounded typical. I should have know that was red flag. It looks like Recife users are stuck with aquatop’s less than stellar pump for now.

I give this skimmer a 5 out of 5 overall. One reason is that it fits in a nano AIO tank. It also skims very well, and it’s not tough to use. The break in period took about a week and then it was off skimming some pretty nasty dark brown stuff. Our nitrates were running in the 20s before we got the skimmer. Now we are down to 5. The fish and corals are happy. We have two clowns and a wrasse. We have mostly zoas, but have some pretty finicky torches that have done beautifully. The price point is good on this skimmer, so that is also a huge plus. The only negative thing I have to mention is that the drain is a bit cumbersome. It’s a plug, and it’s kind of tough to get the plug in with wet hands. It’s totally doable though. All in all a very good value and I would love to buy another mag tool skimmer for a future tank.

20+ years on the hobby; worst skimmer I'veever purchased.Ran it through break in, it started producing good foam but too wet. Adjusted depth and got good results for a day and then it began overflowing. Reduced pump out put and adjusted body. Still overflowing so adjusted depth to rated minimum of 7". Still over flowing.Couldn't send it back for particular reasons so I built a bracket to bring it up higher. At 5" with pump turned down and body open it produced great, dark skimmate so I went ahead and opened the valve on the cup drain. Mistake! While sleeping last night it decided to once again start overflowing. This time it was draining into a gallon container, which also overflowed all over the interior of the stand. ATO kept topping off all night as levels dropped and when I discovered it this morning before work, the SG was way low.So just don't buy this. Spend the money on a higher quality nano skimmer and avoid issue

I have been looking for a nano skimmer to fit in my AIO for a while now and have finally found this as my solution. The product description is accurate as it has a small footprint and yet a decent pinwheel pump for the size. The skimmer acrylic construction is solid and the operation is very quiet. The skimming has been good for clarity and lower nitrates so far. I’m pretty pleased with the results after a week or so. If you have a tight space and want a great skimmer for the value; this should be on your list of options.

The product is very nicely built, but it is hard to regulate it so that it does not drain out your tank. I am not sure if it is just mine or the fact that my tank is running pretty clean and does not have much to pull out. I personally do not like the skimmer as of right now. It does not generate fine bubbles like better quality ones; the bubbles are bigger, which is expected for the price. I keep having to regulate it where I like it to stay, and the bubbles are not just going over the rim and into the cup, but it does not seem to stay consistent. After a few hours of running, somehow, it loses control and starts to bubble faster. it starts to fill up the cup very fast, sending the water down the cup hose and into my waist bucket. if I am not careful, it continues until it drains my tank level, or I stop and reset it. As of right now, I only run it on my days off where I can monitor it.

Super disappointed. This skimmer's motor ended up crapping out after 4 months, sputtering to draw air and constantly overflowing. Submitted a request for return or a new DC motor.

Nachdem die Garantie für meinen Bubble Magus abgelaufen war, ging er schon kaputt. Habe sehr zügig einen neuen für mein Reefer 170 gebraucht und war nicht gewillt, einen Haufen Geld zu investieren. Er läuft jetzt ca. 2 Monate und ich muss sagen, würde ich vor die Wahl gestellt werden, die Entscheidung wäre ganz klar dieser hier. Man hört ein ganz leises knisterndes Rauschen, aber da das Aquarium im Wohnzimmer steht, stört es mich überhaupt nicht.
