This is a follow up to let customers know the one snafu. This starter was much smaller than the the one that it replaced. The one problem was that the original bolts that hold the starter in place were too long for the smaller starter and did not work. I was able to source some 4"(3/8-16) bolts from Home Depo that did the job and had the same 14mm head. Just a "heads up" so you don't have to put the bolts in twice in that hard to reach place!

I couldn't find this anywhere else. The ease of installation and performance was perfect. Great value for my money.

So so disappointed; We bought this new starter in June and installed it. Today we had our first opportunity to take the boat out, and the starter failed! The only thing that would have been worse is if we had been at sea and unable to come home!Only a 30 day warranty, so it adds up to a complete waste of money and a narrowly avoided risk of our lives... DO NOT RECOMMEND!

Was skeptical,but I bought it anyway installed and has worked great the last several months hundreds of starts and no issues I at this time would recommend this product

The thickness of the starter was smaller than the original starter where the bolts enter to attach it to block, the bolts are specifically designed for a starter, the shoulder behind the threads are knurled down, using a different kind of bolt can possibly damage your engine block, I put washers on bolts too make the threads extend the same distance through the new starter with the smaller frame

Almost OE Fit, Boat started right up. Pro tip...there are only two types of starters on Mercruiser engines (because they are GM engines) this one with the offset bolt holes and one for the older blocks that are lined up with each other. Check what you have and buy accordingly. Rating 4 stars as the boat has gone to storage and we will need to see about the lifespan/durability after more use. Also the stock sag bracket did not fit onto this unit as the solenoid was turned slightly compared to the OE part.
