I wanted something long-lasting but was wary of rawhide chews and the many problems people talk about with blocking a dog's digestive system.I got a few different chews to keep my mini dachshund busy, checking what keeps her occupied the longest, what she was most interested in, and what was safe for her. I got the braids and the twists, a single twist lasted less than 15 minutes with her and tended to break into larger pieces. One of these *braids* will last her hours, without breaking into large pieces, and she's been poopin' just fine. Granted it's only been a few days, and I'll update this if there are any issues, but it's looking good so far.I wouldn't recommend this for larger dogs. I think it only works well for her since she's small and can't rip it up in a matter of minutes.Others have complained about not enough jerky in the treat, but I think it's a perfectly small amount. She's not always interested in it but she'll pick it up when she's bored, which is perfect - she doesn't chow them down so they last longer, and she'll eat slowly to get to the small amounts of jerky, preventing her from eating giant chunks of the thing.I don't have any staining issues on the dog's fur or on the carpet/sheets from this product. (Note - read the 1-month update below)I'd put this at 5 stars if I knew for sure whether it was safe, so I'm just doing 4 stars for now and will update to a 5 star in a month if there are no issues.-- 1 MONTH LATER --No health problems after using this treat for a month! Keep in mind that my dog is properly chewing each piece she pulls off, so if your dog is an anxious/fast eater your mileage may vary. My dog does eat the whole thing, even the parts without jerky, at a nice slow pace.There are only two "issues" to mention after all this time:1. My dog's gotten more efficient at chewing these things up (though it still takes her at least an hour)2. The hide gets soft during chewing and sometimes small soft pieces will fall off, leaving a white residue wherever it was. Doesn't smell and isn't concerning in any way, just something to note if you let your dog bring chew it on your bed/couch/carpet. Residue on my sheets is easily cleaned by throwing them in the washing machine.Would definitely recommend for smaller dogs (under 40lb.) Larger dogs should probably look at getting something bigger which will last longer, and which they won't be able to fit in their mouth all at once. Five stars!

My dogs love these! Buffalo Range makes a solid, healthy product for my dogs I cannot speak highly enough of these rawhide! Hours of enjoyment and great dental hygiene! I especially love the limited ingredients sans fillers and fake/unhealthy cheap additives. Bison are not fattened up and filled with additives the way beef or chicken are. It is also a leaner, healthier meat with typically higher nutritional value.My small dogs 20-25lbs) love to chew. They need to chew to keep their teeth and mouths healthy. This is in large part because dogs, large or small have the same number of teeth in their mouths. As you can imagine there is a lot more opportunity for poor dental health in smaller dogs because those teeth are so tightly compacted in their mouths. I love these larger sized Buffalo Range rawhide because my dogs are voracious chewers these larger size braids add longevity and I know it’s helping to keep things clean and healthy.Always keep an eye on your dog while chewing. Although these are safe you never know especially as the braids can come apart into smaller pieces posing potential risk for larger dogs to get stuck in roof of mouth or throat. I have never had an issue but I always give bones when I know I’ll be home and can keep an eye on my beloved pets. If I have to leave I store them for later and they’re happy to pick up where they left off!Also, make sure the water bowl is full. Chewing/gnawing stimulates saliva production which also contributes to overall oral health, breaking down and preventing plaque and buildup in their mouths. All the chewing and enjoyment they will get out of these durable bones will have them taking breaks to rehydrate.

It's safe to say my very bougie picky Australian Shepherd, is highly motivated and very much loves these streets. This is a photo once she realized it was gone.

This is my dog's favorite treat of all time. She's a lab mix and she runs around with it for a while to show it off. Then she lies down with it in front of her and whines. I have no idea what that means but she appears very excited. She then gets down to business to chew it soft so she can eat it. There are thin strips of meat braided in with the hide which she really likes, but can't get at until the chew is softer. Eventually she's able to bite off pieces of the braid and unravel it. I am always there while she eats it and have never seen her ingest large chunks like when a typical rawhide bone is being eaten by a dog. She is just able to bite off and chew very small pieces at a time, until the last 2 inches or so. At this point the braid unravels and she chews on those pieces until they're gone. The whole process takes about 15 minutes. With all that excitement over these, you would think that she gets them only once in a while, when in fact she gets them every day.

My dog loves this chew treat. He loved them to the point of eating the whole bag in a day. So, they are not long lasting. More than likely will buy again at a treat.
