Simply perfect tote bag
I have been using this map bag for a while now. It has held up perfectly, looks great, and has no visible signs of the constant use I put it through. I use this for an art supply bag when I work outside. The size is perfect to hold all of my watercolor supplies. The best part is the hard back, keeping the bag upright instead of collapsing into a pile of folds. Highly recommend.

Looks great and works well.
Looks great, fits nicely around the shoulder, the snaps are a little difficult to secure and the backing feels like cardboard. I wouldn't expose it to moisture. Better for use on a clear day if it's going to be used.

Makes a good Scout Bag
This bag is used by our son for carrying his Scout Book and various papers for current merit badges he is working on. This compact bag can hold all of his stuff and it seems to be holding up well after numerous meetings and several camping trips. It is nice that it has a hard back that lets him use it for a sturdy base for writing on when out in the field. The only thing that might make this bag slightly better would be 1/2 inch wider to better fit a folder and better pouches for pens/pencils or a pocket with zipper.

The BEST bag I have EVER purchased!
Update: I thought I'd post a more recent update of this bag - it's September 2016 and this bag is STILL going strong!! I ended up having my husband sew some patterned cloth across the front flap in a wide horizontal bar (to cover where the ripped-out USMC patches used to be; lost my moto, lol); I punched decorative rivets along the bottom edge of the flap; and I have a collection of pins and buttons on the flap - all for personalization and decoration. An inconsequential inner seam or two has popped, but it has not obstructed the functionality of the bag or the water resistance (the decorations haven't damaged the water resistance, either). All the hardware is still in excellent condition and all straps and loops are still as sturdy as the day it arrived.I still absolutely love this amazing little bag. It has been through SO much with me and it is really comforting knowing that I can get through an unexpected rainstorm without everything in my bag getting rained on (I'm not an umbrella kind of girl; I'm a dance-in-the-rain kind of girl). I would buy from this manufacturer again in a heartbeat and I would buy this bag again, ten times over!! Also, an unexpected bonus was that my husband is not bothered by occasionally having to wear my "purse" because it really looks gender-neutral, and he likes the pin of Bender (from Futurama) that I put on it.Original 2011 review:I absolutely LOVE this bag! I love the colour and the canvas feel. I also love the durability and the fact that it is waterproof. (well, probably more water-resistant because I wouldn't recommend submerging it) It is constantly surprising me with how much I can put in it - on a normal day, I pack my nook, a 16 oz water bottle, my planner, keys, tissues, gum, a snack bar, and my wallet and still have plenty of room to spare! (It has been known to carry binders and my lunch with ease, sometimes groceries, and on Sundays my Bible fits perfectly in the back pocket.)I am constantly getting compliments on it (from military personnel and civilians alike) and many, many people have asked me where I got it. One of my husband's recruiters loved it (and honestly might have "tactically aquired" it if it wasn't my purse) and has actually been the only person to this date to know that it was a military map bag, even though I plaster Marine Corps pins and patches all over it.I haven't had any issues with the rings or tabs connecting the shoulder strap, and the strap itself adjusts with ease. The snaps have stayed in place even when I have overloaded the bag. I have decorative pins in the canvas of the cover flap and they can be inserted and removed without any damage to the canvas fibers or waterproof qualities of the canvas. I left the side flaps intact as I like how it adds extra water protection; you just have to fold them in a little before closing the front flap otherwise they can look a little strange. The only drawback of the bag is that pens do not fit comfortably into the little elastic slots on the front inside of the bag, so I don't use them and consider them decoration.

Solid and well-built for the price
The best part about this bag is that it has a hard polycarbonate/plastic backing inside it, which helps protect your books or devices from getting bent or squished as you're wearing it. The internal divider is simple and practical, as well as the smaller outer pocket. It's comfortable and utilitarian; the canvas looks and feels sturdy as does the stitching. For the price, it's pretty unbeatable. I bought this as an a tote bag alternative--- it achieves the same overall shape and aesthetic while being much more functional.

General commentary
I needed a bag to hold a few file folders and assorted stuff for a car trip, and came across this bag. To visualize the size of this bag, it will hold regular file folders, notepads and magazines exactly. There is sufficient space for several folders, a notepad, a few magazines, a boonie hat, sunglass case and other assorted small stuffs. The bag is constructed of medium weight canvas, with no internal waterproofing. It will offer little protection in any kind of rain. Construction is generally ok quality, but nothing special. The strap is generic webbing, but adequate. There is no padding on the strap, but I'd not attempt to weight down this bag. The flap secures by two snaps. I think i would have preferred Velcro, frankly.I think it's a decent bag for how I intend to use it...in the car to hold loose papers and such. I'm thinking that if I intended to carry it around, I'd prefer something more water resistant with a better strap, but for the price, it's a good option.

I did wash mine successfully
The media could not be loaded. Mine came with the somewhat strong odor others have complained of. Sorta sulfur-like?I ran it through a gentle cycle with an extra rinse.Tumbled mostly dry on lowest heat. The backboard seemed unaffected. I still wouldn't advise letting soak. The odor is greatly diminished but still liners a bit. A vaguely sulfur smell. (Even over dryer sheet)Definitely acceptable at this point though.A few of the seams look like they might need to be touched up down the road butnothing big.Overall pretty satisfied with it!

Basic Medium Canvas Bag
If you need a bag this is a bag. It's a pretty plain bag. Army surplus level. I used it on a trip for a conference. It was pretty handy for that. I didn't expect fancy but the stitching on one of the straps came undone almost immediately. That's a pretty low bar. At the same time it's about the lowest price I could find for decent quality. It was easy enough to tie in a knot and keep moving and should be easy enough to repair.

The perfect travel bag for sketching or on location watercolouring
This bag was recommended by a watercolour teacher to use as a travel bag for on location sketching and painting, and it is perfect! The hard back of the bag provides a firm work surface and it is big enough for my travel paints, my pens, pencil and eraser, as well as my pencil sharpener and bottle of water. The strap is long enough and the bag is big enough for a couple of watercolour/sketch books. I like the brown colour as well.

I will keep it and find a good use for it
This arrived on time and is actually bigger than I thought it would be!I started thinking of everything I could put in it but when I put it all in, it was a bit too heavy for me to carry!Lol!I will keep it and find a good use for it!It's a handy size, be great to carry a sweater and a book or put the sweater in when you get too warm!
