These are cute little walnut-shaped cups that let you bake cake, cookie, bread or pie dough in them. You can then insert a filling and put two together to make a "walnut."The confections it produces look a lot like walnuts--they're good if you pipe in something like a hazelnut pastry cream, or maybe even a chocolate truffle batter. I very much like that there are 50 of them; you can produce 25 pieces at a time.Only issue so far: We have a devil of a time getting the baked goods out of these shells without cracking or breaking up. Not sure why, but greasing these evenly and getting it to stay put once the pan heats up seems to be an issue.Smaller problem: They don't really sit flat on their bases. That doesn't really matter if you're pressing a firm dough into the molds, but it might be an issue if you're using a loose batter.Other than that, though: Recommended.

100/100I made a simple cookie dough with a little almond extract and pressed it into these . . . popped ‘em in the oven for 9 minutes and they came out GREAT! I let them cool for a minute or so and they came right out of the molds. After that, I made a luscious cocoa/coconut extract filling and put it in the center of each one!DELICIOUS!Cleanup was a snap, too! I can;t say anything more than you can bet I’ll be using these again!Ultimately, is it worth the price? Yes

I love that these came with a recipe for the cookies and filling. Pretty easy to use the molds. Just press the cookie mixture in. There are enough molds to make 25 full cookies per baking. I’m going to try different shortbread recipes in these molds too. I think they’ll work. Cleaning is easy and they all store back in the container.

I am so excited to have found these small half walnut shaped cookie molds because I have wanted to make these Russian Walnut cookies if I ever found a recipe and the molds ever since I bit into my first one a few years ago, and until I saw these molds on Amazon I did not even know what these cookies were called to even hunt for a recipe to try them. This particular set of metal walnut cookie molds includes 50 molds in the shape of a half of a walnut. When assembled you will be left with 25 delicious Russian walnut shaped cookies at one time. The molds come in a covered plastic container that you can use for storage when they are not being used for baking. I do see a number of people report their case was broken on arrival, but mine thankfully was in perfect shape. The molds themselves are of a good quality, though they are not indented all that deeply to leave your cookies after baking, unmolding and assembling looking a lot like a walnut, but more like just an oval shaped 3 dimensional cookie instead. The molds seem to be easy to maintain, though they are a bit of a nuisance to wash and you do want to make sure they are dry before packing them away in a sealed plastic case, as I am unsure what metal they are made from. The molds come with a recipe to use, though I have seen other reviewers offering their own versions of this classic Russian cookie recipe as well, which is helpful. This cookie recipe, along with a couple of others is going into my recipe file as a keeper.
