Gas grills are considered by many to be the most convenient way to grill but unfortunately this usually means giving up great smoky flavour for convenience.The Callow smoker box features a v-shape bottom which allow it to sit between the flame deflector bars of most gas grills. This positions the smoke right beneath the food grate for the most intense smoke flavour. The Callow Stainless Steel smoker box has a hinged lid and is reusable. Add water in the reservoir and wood chips to add humidity and authentic wood smoke flavour (wood chips not included).

Great idea, badly implemented.
This in theory should be great, it isn't. The way to get smoke is to starve the wood chips of too much oxygen and they can't ignite into flames.Where this 'box' has been pressed into shape there are air gaps at each end that go from the point at the bottom right up one seam to the hinge. This allows too much oxygen in and the chips will burn rather than smoke.I also think the holes in the top are too big also.You can get it to smoke by putting your wood chips in silver foil to hold back the oxygen but this defeats the object of the box, you may as well just put the wood chips in foil and save yourself some money.So....manufacturer...make the holes smaller and get the seam welded so the oxygen can't get in and it'd be a great box.

Works a treat for me!
A mate of mine bought me a fancy GrillStock BBQ cookbook and has all these really nice and sometimes overly complicated recipes of what you can prepare on the BBQ. I liked the look of one of the recipes but I needed to smoke the chicken ... on a gas BBQ. First I was like ...mmm that can't be done but after a little research I found how to and all I needed was this little gadget and some wood chips. Ordered through AmazonPrime and had through the post the next day, perfectly in time for me to prepare feeding 20 people. Worked fantastically well and will use again no doubt.

Warped hinges
Arrived quickly and perfect size for my Outback 3 burner barbecue. After first use the hinges became stiff, possibly warped with the heat and will not open fully. Could be down to product fault or me having the barbecue at too high a heat.
