This was a birthday present some of which I watched with my mate and for all present at the party it was a riot of laughter.

Great value for a classic series that merits repeated viewing. Don't know why it never seems to be repeated on TV as the humour has barely dated, only the way we read: there is no mention of ereaders or the threat to bricks-and-mortar bookshops which came only after this series was made. As it is, the only competition to Bernard Black's bookshop is when a branch of a big bookshop chain opens next door. The digital book revolution would have added an interesting new plot strand!Memorable performances by a great cast - Tamsin Greig and Bill Bailey are regarded as national treasures in our household, and Dylan Moran is perfect casting too.

Original funny and what can you say about Dylan Moran except genius, + bonus if like me your sick to death of everything on tv beating you over the head with the Woke stick this will give you a little respite.

You are only likely to buy this if you've already seen it, or if someone's recommended it to you. I loved it first time around and wasn't disappointed to see it again. Some of these scenes are ones to treasure. The humour is spot on. The trio of actors work so well together. I shall watch this again and again.

I missed this series when it was first broadcast, and was pleased to discover the series on 3 DVDs in a cottage we were renting in the Lake District. I was hooked and thoroughly enjoyed it. The series was devised by Graham Linehan who was the 'main man' behind Father Ted. The main and subsidiary characters are well cast, and the situations manic. A joy!

This is now the third time that I am buying this collection as the last two I loaned to friends and have not seen them again. Black Books is wonderfully dry witted, down to earth and for anyone that has worked for an extended period of time in retail, Bernard Black is simply a hero!

A funny show, great cast and great value boxset. Glad I gave it a go on the recommendation of a friend who loved the show when it was originally on tv and knew I'd like it. Being a fan of Bill Bailey and Tamsin Greig I'm not quite sure why I didn't watch it first time round, but I'm glad I've watched it now! :)

The DVD picture for Black Books episodes is wide aspect and crisp (much better than that on Crackle dot com, which is where I first saw the series). Also, you get additional episode commentaries with the three actors, who are all hilarious. The discs being Region 2 encoded was not a problem for me: I opened the disc in the VLC app (I use a mac mini as a media center) and it played just fine.

I'd recommend it to anyone I liked,I love this series, one of my favorite sitcoms by far, so special. Delivery, quality, etc. perfect.

Yet another wickedly funny and bizarre series with amazing actors. The Brits rule when it comes to humour.
