Quality product!
Firstly, many thanks to J T ATKINSON who supplied the product thru Amazon; who were more than helpful in providing advice about the seat via their own website and 'LiveChat'. Viz; 'The seat is supplied with BOTH Top & Botttom hinge fixings to select which is best for your toilet'. In my case the hinge holes in the ceramic pan are approximately 15mm diameter, and were suitable for the top fixed hinges (see fitting the grommets below). This seat is of a nice quality and quite easy to fit. It's worthwhile taking some time to adjust the hinge posts correctly as per the instructions to get the best fit and to reduce any play between the seat and the bracket posts. I think ideally you should be aiming to get the centre points between the hinge posts, down to 124mm regardless of your hinge holes spacing in the pan. This is the distance between the centre points of the hinge holes in the seat that accept the posts. Then once tightened up securely, this helped to minimize any slight play in the seat.I big thank you must go to "[Simple fitting technique]. By chrissafon 25 September 2012" for the top tip on how to fit the rubber grommets easily. A neat little trick that makes fitting them a doddle!!! I would not have thought of this technique in a long time! To reiterate, the tip as follows to save anyone trying to find that review:"{This is the first toilet seat I have come across with these 'rubber bung' mountings. Other reviews have mentioned that getting the bung in the hole can be problematic. Some have resorted to brute force, some have resorted to using lubricants such as washing up liquid. I used a technique that I picked up from fitting over-sized rubber grommets in panels such as in car bodywork. My technique worked effortlessly in seconds and is detailed below for others to try.1) Take a short length of thin cord or smooth string (the nylon cord such as you would find on a light pull switch is ideal).2) fold the cord in half and push the looped end through the hole in the WC pan from above.3) pass the loop in the cord over the flange of the rubber bung and twist the cords together a couple of times so that the cord is held securely under the flange.4) hold and press the bung up against the WC hole from underneath.5) whilst applying upward pressure to the bung from underneath the WC to hold it against the hole, pull firmly and smoothly on the cord from above the hole.6) pulling the cord will lift the rubber bung flange and pull the bung effortlessly (no lubrication needed) into the hole.Works every time......}"Another tip is to stretch some cling film across the pan whilst fitting the Hinge Posts etc., so that they don't end up falling accidentally into the pan, or worst still round the'U' Bend!! Just remember to remove afterwards!!The hydraulic hinges work very smoothly and quietly for both the seat and the lid which can be operated independently or together. Also the action is silent and there are no apparent creaks or squeaks from the seat when sitting on the throne!. I think some of the more critical reviews have arisen because the seat hasn't been fitted correctly. It's worthwhile taking the extra time to tweak and adjust the brackets correctly and accurately to get the best fit for your loo.A quality seat that has a pleasing modern design!

Bought to replace a UKIP toilet seat, perfect for broadsheet reading
I recently had my bathroom refitted, and bought a moulded bamboo toilet seat from 'the UK's largest DIY Retailer' The criteria for buying it was that it must be solid enough to be able to stand on the lid, so that I can open the bathroom window. This purchase was a complete waste of time. I suspect it was designed by UKIP, because as soon as I sat down on the seat it lurched alarmingly to the right, and became uncontrollably wobbly. No such problems with the Neutron seat.I ordered it on Friday lunchtime, and it arrived on Tuesday evening by courier, and that was just standard delivery. It came in a large box, with the manufacturers box within it. The instructions are clear enough with an exploded diagram on the box for top fitting. Supplied with fittings for top and bottom fitting, but you would have to have a good reason to really want to fix them from underneath (or are mad).Once the original seat was off, which was a quick enough job, the new seat was on in minutes. If you top fit it, two rubber bungs slip easily into the holes in the pottery, the studs that hold the seat in place are placed on the top of the pan, then temporarily fastened in place. The seat and lid are lowered onto them, and moved into their final position. It's a simple matter to remove the seat, and clamp it down into final position by tightening the screws FIRMLY. The rubber on the underside of the pottery then pulls up tight Rawlplug fashion, and the rubber bung tightens in the holes. Simply remove the seat using the push buttons, pop the chrome covers on, and job done. The lid is solid enough to stand on, although the instructions warn you not too. Probably not a good idea if you appear in Channel Five documentaries or are a Sumo wrestler then. Best of all, the seat stays put solidly with no perceptible move to the left or right, so probably one of those Liberal designs, so therefore endangered nowadays..Talking of Liberal, the seat is very comfortable, so ideal for the morning read of broadsheets such as the Guardian. It's perfect for a good long sitting without losing sensation in my lower legs. I managed to get all the way through the News and Sport sections and most of the G2 supplement before numbness set in.On a practical note, it will be easy to clean. Once the seat is removed using the quick release, it's going to be easy to clean round the hinges without resorting to the dreaded 'retired toothbrush'. These have always been a bone of contention, as there's the terror that one might accidentally return into general circulation. I'm still not sure where one might chose to wash a removed toilet seat though. Throw it in the bath (shudders) under the shower (heave) or the kitchen sink (retch)? It looks fine aesthetically, bog seats are functional items and would be hard to mess up on the design front, unless a radical departure into a range made from splintered wood was launched. The soft close is great, and as the seat is thin, it stays perfectly in the upright position, which is perfect for blokes. My girlfriend will just have to be patient as the seat gently glides down. Not yet tested after a Vindaloo night with friends, so hard to comment on the advertised durability.Buy it.

A good, mid-priced toilet seat.
I bought this to replace an old white plastic seat that was yellowing and looking past it's best. This seat is of a style that will look good in most bathrooms. It comes with quality fixings, was quite easy to fit and, so far, has remained quite solidly and securely in position. The design makes it very easy to keep clean. I particularly like the hinges, which are an integral part of the seat moulding, so there are no screws to rust, work loose or trap debris and look unsightly. The quick release feature allows the seat to be completely removed to clean the toilet pan. This is also a very good feature - it really is very easy to remove and refit the seat in seconds. The soft close mechanism works very slowly indeed which is why I've only given it four stars rather than five - however, this certainly isn't a major problem may not irritate you as much as it does me.There are probably heavier duty, sturdier seats out there but, for the price, this one is perfectly adequate and I recommend it.
