Excellent
“Creation Story Reader” by Marjorie Neufeld Schinke & Doris Neufeld Ford.Big Letter Books for children, Livingston, TX 2011We purchased a copy of this book for a granddaughter, (6 years old), who liked the book’s big letters. She rapidly read the whole book, slowing down now and then to sound out the longer words. What impressed her the most were the illustrations.Later, we used this book at our granddaughter’s CCD (religion) class. The students are 6 or 7 years old, and interestingly, most of them already knew the basics, but didn’t know that creation took six days. The book was read aloud, with the pages facing the class. The large print made it possible for the children to read to themselves, and some even corrected me when I stumbled over the pronunciation of a word. Again, the illustrations captured their attention. When the page (page 17) was turned to show the bright white splash next to the totally black page (of darkness), the children gasped. It was obvious that they now had a better idea of what happened when God said, “Let there be light!” The illustrations kept their attention. For page 44, most of the class yelled, “Look at the lion”. When the illustration for Adam and Eve was reached, a young boy named “Adam” shouted out, “That’s Adam”.So, this book really caught and kept their attention. When questioned, the young students now knew creation took six days and that on the seventh, the Lord God rested. Great book.

Long Over-due Book for Children
This is a beautiful book - both in the telling of the story and in the illustrations! We are all familiar with the story of the creation, but Marge breaks it down into language that will be easily understood by babies and small children as they are being taught to read. The pictures are crisp and clear, and the animals illustrated will be easily identified by small children. This book should definately be in the libraries of homeschoolers, preschools, and Sunday schools.

Big letter books are fun
I really like the look of this book. The pictures are cute for the kids to look at and the big letters help them to learn to read better. It is made of very good paper and feels nice to hold.
