Nice book to add to my collection of ASL books
Just what I wanted. The condition of the book was exactly what I paid for. I found this book helpful for my study’s.

Excellent dictionary
I think this is the best ASL dictionary I’ve found. The pages are white, which makes it brighter and easier to read. The pictures and descriptions are helpful and easy to understand. I’ve had mine for about 5 years and bought this one for a friend who is learning ASL. I’ve found that this dictionary is usually true to ASL sign language.

Great for getting those words you just can't quite remember.
It's a really thorough dictionary. It provides not only signs for words, but some background and example usage as well as variances and alternate meanings. I picked it up to learn ASL a little better, but I was conversing with my deaf girlfriend and she mentioned some of the signs are not ASL but in fact SEE (Signed Exact English). For most signs though, they're pretty well descriptive. The only downside is that many signs have different words/meanings and so I find myself looking up a word only to find it says "see X word" in lieu of description and picture.

This is the best ASL dictionary
In case you didn’t guess from my title, it really is the best ASL dictionary out there on the market. I have an older version (1997) and this is a replacement for that dictionary. Just as time changes and words too...so do ASL signs. It’s good to keep up the ever changing world and ASL language. I find this dictionary easy to use, the illustrations are well drawn and explanations are easy to understand. This dictionary is a great companion to Lou Fant’s ASL Phrase Book. I suggest purchasing both to really immerse yourself in Deaf culture and the beautiful language called ASL.

A must have
A must have when learning sign language. This dictionary has a lot of terms that others do not have. I like how there is a memory aid for each sign. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because too many words have you looking at other signs. I don't like looking up a word to read i need to refer to a totally different one. All in all, this is a very valuable addition to my study aids. I would recommend highly even with my one complaint.

Full sized with clear descriptions
Great, but not compact. See compared to female thumb in picture. Bigger than my hand.Pictures are helpful. Definitions of each word seem unnecessary. It's both a dictionary and asl picture book. Could have been smaller without dictionary. Descriptions of the hand gestures helps. Written clearly.

but it is a good start for any student learning ASL
A real DICTIONARY with parts of speech, definitions, etc. It is no comprehensive, however, but it is a good start for any student learning ASL. Of course, double check all signs with someone in your local Deaf community -- many here, as from any instructor in the US, are regional and are simply not used in my city. But a again, a great resource. Clear and easy to understand.
