Enjoy Your Mate on the Go!
6-19-2018========Just got this in the mail and now using it for the first time. I've been drinking mate for years. At home I use my gourd, but I've been using a french press for my mate at work. This bottle seemed like a great way to have my mate at work with the similarity of drinking from the gourd. The bottle does not come with any type of instructions, so common sense was applied. :D It feels light and a little flimsy but it seems to fit together well and function without issues. No problems with the straw attachment as reported by others. It simply snapped into its hole. If anything, the straw may be a bit more loose than I'd like. There doesn't seem to be a gap to let air in, so I'll continue to monitor. To set up, I removed the black mate cup from the top, filled with mate, then tried to get the filter cap on. I say tried because getting the filter all they way into the mate to snap the cap in place became a chore. I probably put too much mate in the cup causing the issue. I'll continue to play with the amount I put in and update my review with the results. Once I got the cap secured, I flipped and shook it (like you do with a gourd) to get the leaves and dust to settle properly, then filled the bottle with warm water and snapped the mate cup into place. After two pulls from the straw, the water mixed perfectly with the mate and I've been enjoying it all morning.I'll try a few things differently next time: (1) Use less mate in the cup. I filled the whole thing almost to the top and had a tough time getting the cap/filter on straight. I'm going to shoot for 3/4 of the cup and see how that goes. (2) Add cold water to soak the starting mate. Just like I do with my gourd, I'm going to try a cold water soak for a few mins before putting the filter/cap on and introducing the warm water.More updates to come!

Love it! For those whose straw doesn't fit, try pushing harder! That's how I got mine in, I smacked it through a tuff surface and it went in.I take it everywhere, hopefully it doesn't break.I just wish it kept the water hot, the water gets cold after ~30 minutes.

Foamy straw. Defective
I used traditional mate since I was born. Bought this one for commuting but the straw makes foam and water doesn't come up. Fail.
