Fantastic Storytelling!
No New Lessons tells the true and crazy story of the author’s trials and tribulations while on an ambitious hiking adventure with two buddies in the Alaskan wilderness. Deployed to Alaska, the three friends decide to spend their weekend making the trek to the “Magic Bus.” They have roughly 40 hours to get there and be back to base in time for mission planning Sunday afternoon.Paul weaves his tale, drawing you in from the very first chapter. His use of back stories truly enhances the reader‘s understanding of WHY ON EARTH! certain decisions and choices were made as they continued on their journey. Whether it be details from his military training or past adventures from his family life with his wife and three boys, I found myself eager for another flashback, finding them equally as entertaining and enlightening as the main story being told.A truly fun story that had me hooked from the beginning. I can’t wait to share it with my friends and family.

Witty, honest, convicting.
Well written, funny, and subtly convicting. You'll laugh, shake your head and think "I'd never," only to realize 5 pages later that you have made similar decisions and likely will again. It's a humorous tale that leads to self reflection, leaving you entertained, convicted, and motivated to live better.

An adventure story I couldn't stop reading
This book is fun, exciting & difficult to put down. Paul grabs your attention through several looks back at life events & military training courses that shaped him & his adventurous spirit, preparing him for one of the most subtly dangerous adventures of his life. Paul's journey through the Alaskan wilderness in search of the "Magic Bus" seemed easy enough on paper, but proved to be something that could have killed him and his buddies, like it's killed others in the past. You feel like you're sitting next to him listening to the stories one after the other and you don't want it to stop. I loved it.

Paul White writes this often amusing, relatable, real-life story of an epic weekend pilgrimage into the Alaskan bush by three military buddies. The book is an easy read while delivering some classic life lessons for those who enjoy outdoor adventures and those who enjoy the follies of others from the comfort of the indoors alike! I highly recommend picking up a copy of this book and you won't be disappointed.

Everyone has regrets...whether it's passing up a position, or failing at life's opportunities.
Do not get any perceived ideas from the first chapter or two. You would be wrong! This story will take you deep into yourself. Do you have want it takes to survive something that you thought would be easy or at the very most, would be a challenge accepted?Think again.Paul White has the raw and desperate, thought provoking portraiting of what could have been a devastating negative outcome for three friends that thought " we can do this!".Can't wait for his next book!

Well-written and an enjoyable read - recommended!
In his debut book, retired U.S. Air Force veteran Paul “Roscoe” White paints a vivid and dramatic picture of how a simple hike in the Alaskan wilderness turned into something much bigger. His dramatic (and oftentimes laugh out loud funny) style of writing puts you right along side Paul and his two Air Force companions, Banzai and Smokus, as they make their way across the Alaskan tundra to the goal of their journey—the Bus. With raw humor, lifechanging lessons, and dramatic prose, “No New Lessons” is the perfect book or gift for anyone who loves adventure tales and the outdoors.
