Tidal 400 LPH Solar Powered Water Feature Fountain Pond Pump with Battery Back Up and LED Light

I do not write reviews often but felt I needed to contribute to helping make decisions re this product.I am really impressed with this item. Easy to construct and performs perfectly. Yes it takes some time to get your head around solar. The light drives this (clearly) and depending on the strength or cloudiness depends whether it is just water being pumped OR whether it pumps the water and charges the back up battery as well. Any decent weather ensures that both are achieved.I had reservations to this ... would this be strong enough to power a fountain strong enough to drive water up through a stone lion and strong enough to spew water from the mouth. The distance from floor to lion base attachment is an arm length 80cms?? Then the lion itself measure about 50cm as well.I am pleased to say it does it with gusto.There is an added benefit of the LED lights .. these don’t work every night (depends how strong the sun has been) but when it does it really looks great.Can’t talk this product high enough. Remember be patient ... it is the strength of the sun that controls this.BTW the fish within the recycled water tank are thriving as are the water lillies.

This is a great little pump on a sunny day. It does have a battery which keeps the pump going on intermittently cloudy days. Shame the battery isn't of a greater capacity.I wanted the pump to get rid of algea in my small pond, job to big for this pump and it's small filter but I have no doubt it would be good for garden ornaments. The solar panel works well but being flat, it needs to be turned throughout the day. A curved panel would be great.Over all a great pump for small ornamental pond.

When it arrived I was a bit surprised and thought, well, you don't get much for your money. A pump smaller than a cig packet, a few pipes and a solar panel. The control box is mounted on the back of the solar panel, which has a bright white surround. A black one would be less obvious in the garden. Reading the instructions I thought that the led indicator would show the state of charge, this doesn't start working until the pump is plugged in. My doubts soon left me once it was in the water, its a powerful little thing, the fountain is about 2 feet tall and great to watch. Add the led lights, pushed over the head feed pipe, for a sparkling display at night. There is an added benefit, as the water has cleared considerably with only I day of use. Want an easy fountain ? This is great !

It works, when it wants. Random I have a different one at the same price that has a timer but lower output . Wish I has got another of those.

Took a gamble with this over a mains powered option and it's really paid off. I chose the 400LPH version over the 250LPH as it was in the sale and I'm glad I did as it seems to suit the water feature that it is now fitted to. The feature is a triple cascading design and the water travels upwards for about a meter at a roughly 45 degree angle. There are numerous adapters to allow it to be fitted to pipes or indeed be a free standing fountain. The battery backup, which charges in the day even when in use, allows the water feature to continue to work after sunset including with the white led light ring which you can choose to attach or not and which only comes on during darkness thanks to the light sensitive sensor. The time running on battery alone will vary depending on how sunny day has been obviously but I have yet to have it stop before I wanted which leads me to the most useful feature, the touch sensitive on/off switch on the rear of the solar panel. So you can fully charge it during the day of you wish without having the pump active. This is an excellent product that I cannot recommend highly enough.

This solar fountain simply does not perform as claimed. The pump only works in direct sunlight, and not in cloudy conditions at all. During direct sunlight, the unit is also meant to recharge the battery---which is claimed then to continue powering the pump for 4-6 hours. In practice, the battery is almost totally ineffective and there is no power once the sun goes in. This is, in effect, almost totally useless, not worth the money, and does not perform as claimed.

We used it for a water feature and it works perfectly

I use this for a small water course in a wildlife rockery.Tends to only work once the sun hits the panel and stops once in shadow, from my experience the batteries are pretty useless. It comes with a light but i have never used it as the unit only functions during the day.For its size, the pump is quite efficient and runs quietly.
