A Solid shaver
A Great solid shave although you have to be careful not to drop as it isn't particularly grippy.

Have a great shave, have a great day!
I bought this to compliment my Merkur 34C Heavy Duty Safety Razor but recently I've started increasingly to nick myself more frequently and more deeply. The 43C is solidly built and the weight is nicely balanced, well almost all of the time but there are moments when depending on the cutting angle, it can feel heavy. However, I'm going to put this down to the getting to know you phase of this razor as I've only had it a week.Using the same blades as with the 34C, the 43C has so far given me a much smoother and longer lasting finish - I've been getting half-past seven / eight shadow. I've also had fewer and more superficial nicks which can just be rinsed away. With the current trend of most things being made with the philosophy of build 'em cheap and stack 'em high, this is an outstanding piece of German craftsmanship and quality and feels like it's been built to last a lifetime. The grip remains firm even when wet. the razor is easy to disassemble to change blades and and so far I haven't experienced any after-the-shave burn. To quote geofatboy from his YouTube shave and review videos, with the 43C you really can "Have a great shave, have a great day".

Great for beginners or those with sensitive skin
I saw a review of the razor on Youtube so decided to give it a go. I own several razors from a Feather artist shavette to several Merkur and Muhle razors. This is a very well made razoe like all Merkur's (well the ones I own anyway). I started my DE shave journet eith an Edwin Jagger but progressed onto more aggressive razors as I like a very close shave. This razor is beautifully weighted and also looks beautiful and it is also suprisingly easy to grip (even when wet). The shave is very, very mild and would suit a beginner, those with sensitive skin or those who only need to shave a couple of times a week. For me it is too mild and I need far too many passes to get something close to a close shave. It is good for what it is.

Shave with the Best
From the first time you take hold of the Beauty. You know this is something special.German Engineering, Superb Build Quality. The Finish is just Top Draw.I have had the Merkur Vision Adjustable Double-Edged Safety Razor for four years until the adjustment mechanism broke….Not happy. Still this paved the way to this Simple pure engineering delight. The Merkur 43c should last a Lifetime. Simple in construction. The weight lends itself to an effortless shave. The cutting angle is perfect. No need to be worried the shaving angle is right on point, not to aggressive. In short I have owned To Braun and Phillips Electric Shavers. They are no match for this.Keep it simple, that is the secret of the Merkur 43C.

What a machine!! Ive been DE shaving for ...
What a machine!! Ive been DE shaving for a while now and used various razors, ie the merkur futur,34c edwin jagger de89 and even a slant bar but the merkur 43c is on another level. BBS shave every time with 3 pass shave. The weight of this razor lets you know its there. Quality made machine from Germany.

Start enjoying shaving again..
Finally bit the bullet and went the DE route ,what a revelation this razor is hey it may be a bit pricey but this will last a lifetime and beyond ,just to hold this in your hand you just know it is fit for purpose.I use Derby blades at the moment until I perfect the technique required for DE shaving but not nearly as difficult as some make out...if I could offer one piece of advice it is to take your time and spoil yourself and re discover the joy of shaving using quality products for the ultimate finish and skin feel.I can`t believe what I was paying for multi blade razors and replacement heads to be still less than satisfied ,there is no comparison although I thought that the Mach 3 and Fusion were close shavers...they weren`t...!!!I currently use Proraso pre shave cream and then their shave soap and find them fantastic at the price ,I use my old boar hair brush at the moment but will progress to the badger before long.To re cap then..Merkur 43c DEProraso per shave(also use this after the shave and it very refreshing and tingly)Proraso shave soap(re lather continually as you shave a tub of soap lasts ages even at 5 shaves a week)Derby blades to start and will try the supposed daddy`s(Feather blades) once I have graduated and become more proficientAnd lastly enjoy and hog the bathroom to yourself for a change...
