Poor thermostat control
The thermostat functions poorly, probably due to the design of the control. Doesn't maintain room temperature at the thermostat setting.

Great Mica Heater
In reading the reviews I was surprised to see that pretty much all the negative comments were about the use of the remote and position of the nearer being very particular. I don’t really use the remote. I bought this to replace a previous Turbro mica heater I got on Amazon 5 years ago. This one works great, has more settings and the digital display are all upgrades compared to the old one I had. I wanted another mica heater because they’re much lighter than the oil heaters, are maybe a little faster at radiating heat in a room, and extremely quiet. This one does just that for the most affordable price I found on Amazon at this time.

Could be better
This little heater is ALMOST perfect. It has a remote. It heats up quick. It has safety features. What else can you ask for right? OK, so the remote only works if you're in front of the unit. Like almost directly in front. If you're off to the side by 25 degrees, it won't work. So basically you have to angle the unit to look directly at you (let's say in a bedroom or living room) so you don't actually have to get up or lean over in funny directions. This also kind of limits where you can place the unit so the remote works. Next is the auto function. The unit doesn't let you change the temperature setting while in auto function. You have to change the mode to either low, med, high, change the temp, and then change it back to auto. For a $140 machine, you would think they would've thought about this stuff. The people who reviewed this machine before me seem to have all gotten the machine for free for a review so I don't see how they can see the "value" for the price because I can't justify the price. The whole body is plastic except the metal grates on the side. The grate on one side of my machine was bent inwards touching the heating element inside so I had to bend it outwards using some tools I had. I fear over time the plastic might slowly melt or degrade because of the heat. The unit itself weighs 9 pounds. Although light, I can't tell you if it will stand up to any abuse. When I first turned the machine on, there was some smoke and plastic smell which subsided after a few minutes. Probably some dust or something during production stuck on the heating element. If this was sub $100 I would buy another one, but I cannot justify the price.

Top of the unit is Plastic. When using always breathing a heating plastic may be a health issue.
Top of the unit is made of some kind of Plastic. it is safe to touch.but when heater is on, always heating up that plastic and breathing a heating plastic may be a health issue.Display is too bright at night. Memory clears when power off.I noticed heat panels bending at high heat. looks not good at that time. but when cool down its straight.

Not a fan
I have several Turbro Mica heaters that I love. I was excited to finally find a Mica heater with digital controls. The heater is well built and works well. The problem was the digital interface. Most heaters with an auto setting will try the lowest power setting to maintain your desired temperature and than ramp up as needed to higher settings as needed. This heater’s auto setting will only use high power up till 65 degrees and will only use medium up to 68 degrees and will only use low over 68 degrees, which means if you like to set your thermostat to 72 degrees, the heater will not be able to provide that temp on cold nights. Also the heater has no power memory, meaning if your power goes out for even a second during the night this heater won’t come back on. Needless to say I returned the heater. If they decide to give this heater a proper eco setting mode and power memory I would rebuy this heater immediately.

Great heater
This is a fantastic space heater. The Good- Super build. Metal all around. Bottom and sides are plastic.- Long power cord. You may need an extension if you need to bring to the center of the room.- Great design. Heaters on two sides and at the top. It won't "blast" heat at you - though it will heat up a small room nicely.- Timer mode is great for safety and automation.- Built in tip off safety. If it tips over, the heater turns off operation.- Temperature setting is good for knowing how warm the room is currently and the temperature the heater keeps it at.Could be better- The sensor for picking up the remote is only on one side. So if the HUD is facing away from me, I have to go around to point.Small nuance doesn't dock this from a 5 star review. Recommended for small bedrooms.

Great heat, poor thermostat
When it puts out heat, it does what it's supposed to do. Heats a small room efficiently by using convection. The thermostat leaves a lot to be desired though, unless mine was faulty. It's all over the place. I have two other independent thermostats in the same room, and they show consistently anywhere from 2-6 degrees warmer than the one built in. Weirdly, the room is usually close to the temp I set it to, but the display thermostat is always off. I almost hope mine is broken, but I can't figure out why anyone would make a heater that never gives you the right temperature. Giving four stars overall - heating is excellent, safety features work well. Just wish I could do more than guess at what I'm setting my room temp to!

Portable and works good
I like that this heater is portable and works good and heats up my small room pretty quickly. It was bigger and lighter than I was expecting but overall I'm happy with it and I love the white color and design of this
