A proper 'Krone tool'
What is a 'Krone tool' you might ask? The answer is a contradiction in a sense - Krone is the name of the company that invented the 'insulation displacement connector' which is used on many common telecommunications and network cabling systems.A Krone tool (or to use the correct term, 'punch down tool') is used to literally 'punch' insulated cable into the right slot on an IDC or keystone jack (for example, a telephone socket or Cat5/Cat6 wall jack) and cut off any excess wiring, which if used correctly produces a clean, reliable connection. There are many on the market, but after much deliberation and testing a 'clone' I decided to invest in the genuine article, and I can honestly say I am glad I did.The genuine KRONE-LSA PLUS punch down tool is solidly built and allows insertion of wires with minimum exertion, making it a breeze to use. In addition to this, the unit is equipped with a 'sensor' which ensures that the cutting mechanism is only activated if the wire is in the correct location (preventing rookie mistakes, such as cutting the wrong side of the wire, meaning your neat cable work has to be redone!).The tool certainly isn't the cheapest on the market, but if you are likely to have an ongoing requirement for it, I would recommend investing in it, since it will make your life much easier!

As good as they get
Arrived yesterday and given to apprentice who was struggling to punch down using a cheap tool. He loved it and his success rate has gone up to 100 percent. The sensor is the key to someone not used to these tools as it will not click until the tool is fully down. This I have found useful when working in hard to see areas. I have used this model for some time having previously using the cheaper models, these are a better build quality and last a long time. A bit on the expensive side but worth the money if you do lots of punch downs.

the original and best
I have tried several different cheaper punch down tools and to be honest always had issues I would have to go back to with poor connections. Once you buy this you realise all the others are poor imitiations and do not have the same functionality as this one. After trying the rest, I can thoroughly reccomend this one

Better than Fluke
I’ve used the Fluke impact tool for years. It was only when I used this that I realised how easy punch downs can be to use. This tool is the gold standard, sorry Fluke.

Worked well.
Worked OK.I went for a genuine Krone tool, but I am not sure it was better than my older cheaper look-alike.

Excellent item and will last me a long time unlike the last one from a local supplier

Definitely better than the cheap imitation (homage) alternatives
Definitely better than the cheap imitation (homage) alternatives. Get what you pay for...The biggest good difference is the quality of the cutter and the sensor that won't allow you to cut unless the cutter is flush with the bit you're cutting.
