Not great for star gazing.
I was looking for something smaller to replace my binoculars in my backpacking gear. I use my binoculars to catch looks at stars and nebulas when I get to a dark sky destination. This didn't compare to my Celestron binoculars, so it's not worth the money. I think it would be fine for whale watching or bird watching, but it's hard to keep it in focus and get it pointed at the right thing.

The Spyglass Monocular Telescope, is a little different to focus
The Spyglass Monoculars Telescope small and compact when it is in the case which is great when you are on the move, but a little different to use than binoculars. It may take a little getting used to.

Fun to Use
The Gskyer 25x50 Pirate Spyglass Monoculars Telescope Zoomable is fun and easy to use on your outdoor adventures. It comes with a nice leather case and is ready for use. However, don't expect to have the power necessary for stargazing. Overall - nice telescope

More "fun" than "functional"
We were looking for something that the family could use while out adventuring in addition to our pair of nicer Alpen binoculars. Between the sturdy vintage carrying case and the retractable telescope body, this certainly fits the brief! Needless to say the kids were very excited. The materials are nice enough. The carrying case is leather, looks to be full grain, and should develop a lovely patina with use. Honestly, I feel like this is where most of the effort went to- the carrying case. The body materials are robust (albeit heavy), and the optics are decent. That said, the company could probably lean into the vintage aesthetic a bit more and offer this in a brass-colored body while losing the gaudy "Gskyer" logo.Which brings up a key point here- anyone looking at this isn't buying some high-end glass, it's mostly for the fun vibes and "ahoy-matey" look. Compared to the Alpens mentioned, the images are 'ok', and that's fine. Adjusting the focus is clunky, and that's fine, too, because, again, the purpose of this spyglass is fun- not superior optics. My only thought is that this is still a bit spendy, all things considered- especially since much of the competition offers a more authentic spyglass experience.

Perfect gift for all of your pirate friends
Review of: **Gskyer 25x50 Pirate Spyglass Monocular Telescope Zoomable, Handheld Mini Telescope for Adults Kids, High Powered Prism Compact Telescope Monoculars for Travelling Watching Games Hiking Hunting**This is a really cool and high quality telescope that comes nicely packaged and with a very convenient leather carrying case. The finish on the telescope is a nice looking matte metal and the feel of it (when expanding or collapsing) is quite solid. No looseness in the sections or anything rattling around inside. My only complaints are that it can sometimes be a little finicky when focusing, since you need to slide it in and out to focus (instead of spinning a dial or section) and it can be tough to hold really still since you have to hold the end up a foot or two from your face. But this is really more of the fact that it is a telescope versus a pair of binoculars versus anything wrong with this product. This isn't a cheap kids' toy, but really a real telescope and the price reflects the quality. Definitely a good value, just be sure you aren't expecting the same use as a set of binoculars. And any pirates you know will absolutely love it.

Nice, but compare to binoculars.
This is a very nice spyglass that comes in a great leather case that you can wear around your neck. It's a real optical tool, not merely a pirate cosplay prop. It does take some adjustment to get the focus right. And even more time if you normally wear glasses. The magnification is better than what you can likely get from binoculars at this price point. But the drawback with using this sort of spyglass over a set of binoculars is that that the spyglass is longer and therefore exerts more leverage over you. If you can't brace it on a branch or trekking pole, your arm will shake a bit, making it hard to hold particularly steady for very long.

Wanted to like this more than I did; difficult to focus and catches when expanding
At first glance, this monocular is really cool. With the vintage looking leather case, this spy glass looks like something out of a movie or a pirate ship. Unfortunately, the case is the best part about this monocular. I had a very difficult time getting the glass to focus. On top of that, when expanding the monocular at a certain point it likes to catch. I was honestly afraid I was going to break it. Overall, this is a really cool piece, but it is difficult to use and there is some hang up when expanding.

Great for kids to use while on nature walks
This pirate spyglass monocular telescope feels really well made, it is very robust and has some weight to it. The carrying case that comes with it is equally impressive, thick leather that keeps it well protected and a nice long strap so that it can be carried over the shoulder with ease. This magnifying telescope has 25x magnification capability, and a 50 mm large objective lens. The telescope can be focused by twisting the lens, much like using binoculars. Unlike binoculars, it takes a little bit of practice to learn how to "find" objects through the telescope using only one eye. Once you get the hang of it, it becomes easy, much like riding a bike. This telescope has been fun to use with kids - 5&8. They like to tote it around, playing "adventurers" when we go out on walks. The telescope is perfect for spotting nature things while out on a walk - it's ideal for zooming in on plants that are off the trail, or interesting birds that we see in the trees. The image is nice and clear through the telescope. The telescope isn't powerful enough for stargazing, but it's been a lot of fun for a couple of kids out on nature walks. It feels well made, and comes with a really nice, robust carrying case. This telescope would make a fun gift for kids, but it is a bit amateur for an adult, in my opinion.
