Bought as a gift and the receiver hasn’t had time to assemble yet , so can’t comment on that. But package is so small it looks a far cheaper gift than it actually is. Size does sometimes give the wrong impression.

This model was bought for my 95 year old friend who lives in a Care Home.Making models keeps his mind busy and his hands and fingers busy.I will continue to buy him models until he has to stop making them!

Concertante because of my brain tumour, which has affected my mobility not able to work and hearing loss. So have done lots of these puzzles to help me when wife at work, With my big hands difficult at times, had to use some clear wood glue to help in places.

I have built three of the UGears wooden models in the last year and have thoroughly enjoyed the satisfaction of building and completing them. So I thought that I would try the ROKR Grand Prix car kit for a change. In my opinion, and based solely on this model, there is no comparison between the two makes.The scale of the model is smaller which means smaller, fiddly parts. I found the parts pressed out ok and the plans are easy to follow. However the parts are very thin and fragile and will snap at any provocation. I eventually finished the build and it looks ok at first glance. What you cannot see is the copious amounts of superglue used to repair the broken bits! There are no gears or moving parts (apart from the four wheels).I did not get a lot of pleasure from the build and it will not be joining my other models on the shelf!

I have made a few of these wooden models and generally have no problems.However I cannot say the same for this model jeep.The plywood sheets are very thin and I broke a few parts when trying to assemble them.I even managed to break one of the spare parts as well and I don't consider myself to be heavy handed.The instructions are in parts difficult to read and resulted in one part being fitted the wrong way round .I think the model would benefit from being on a slightly larger scale with a corresponding increase in the thickness of the plywood and the instruction leaflet revised.Despite these problems I did produce a good looking model that is very detailed but the difficulties I encountered did take away some of the enjoyment of building it.

I haven't built a model since the 1970s and fancied something to occupy me during lockdown. I didn't like the idea of glue and paint, too much smell and mess, so a push-fit wooden model seemed like the ideal choice.The kit arrived in a slim packet which contained four sheets of ply, a sheet of instructions and a tiny piece of sandpaper. I'd done some research and made sure I had a few basic tools, including some files (see my review on those), plus a craft knife and a pair of pointed nose pliers that I already had in the garage. I used them all, particularly the craft knife - the parts are laser cut in the ply and most simply push out, but the knife helps with those parts that are reluctant to come free.I took my time and found the whole process straightforward and enjoyable. Spares are provided of the most fragile parts but I managed not to break any, although I came close a few times. Some parts are very small, too small for my large fingers, and the pliers were essential to hold them securely. Some parts were a very snug fit but with a bit of gentle sanding or filing everything slotted together nicely - with hindsight a bit of candle wax rubbed on would have perhaps been easier.The model took around six hours to complete and looks grand sitting on my sideboard - see photos. The wheels rotate so it'll push (gently) along but that's it - no working suspension, steering etc.. But I wanted something simple to start with and having built this one, I feel confident to move on to something more complex for my next project.In summary, if you're new to push-fit wooden modelling this is an ideal starter kit.
