My previous fixture that sat atop my lamp post was completely manual. It was my responsibility to turn it on and off from night to day. You know that light was on consistently without fail. It was much lower on my prioritized list of "things to do". I was consuming more power than necessary and replacing bulbs frequently. It didn't emit enough light for it to be beneficial in a visual aspect in the darkness. It was an accent piece in my front yard.This light is the exact opposite, shining enough light from my front door to my mailbox, eliminating the use of a flashlight when retrieving the mail in the darkness. The solar photo cell powers the light on at dusk and off at sunrise. The glass is clear and thick without constricting any light. Frame is tight, preventing water from seeping into the fixture. Easy to install, photo cell wiring is already connected, just connect the black to black and white to white.THis light is not solar powered. It must be wired to 110v electricity. There are no batteries required for this unit. Nothing charges. Does not have motion detector feature.

Fills with water - always has condensation
Purchased this 5months ago and already need to replace. Wouldn’t recommend. Always has condensation and water in it.

Nice post lamp
Looks good - don't know how long it will last. Hope it will last longer than the previous one - had to replace it after 1.5 years as it fell completely apart.
