An honest review from an EASHL die hard.
Everyone knows about all the modes and details omitted from the game. It sucks. I know, we know, get over it. I beat the EASHL/OTP drum as loud as anyone. I loved the EASHL and I thought it was one of the best (if not the best) multiplayer gaming experiences one could have with their friends. I'm hoping for a patch that at least brings in OTP (it's coming in the near future) but until that happens I'm going to make due with what's available. With that said, here's my review on the launch edition of NHL 15.The gameplay is very smooth this year. Skating, hitting, shooting, passing are all on point and precise. Player collision is more realistic with players colliding with teammates, and opponents rubbing off of weak body checks. It takes more effort to put someone down with a crushing blow than it did in previous years installments. Goalies look fluid in the net and suffer from realistic rebound opportunities rather than the "glitch goal" from the top of the circles. Board play seems to be a bit underwhelming and underdeveloped as most scrums end in a turn over rather than a successful jockeying for the puck from the offense. EA talked up their crowd animations and variance, but in my experience crowds seem to suffer from repetition in movement and many of the same models are repeated when the camera cuts into the crowd. This is a bit surprising since the game was marketed as having the largest variance in crowd in all of EA title's. If there are 9,000+ different individuals created for crowds why am I seeing seven of the same individuals in one shot?EA revamped their presentation and broadcast for NHL 15 and the results are fair at best. The addition of live action intros from Doc and Eddie look out of place and the exterior shots of cities and arenas look low resolution and seem out of place when compared to how nice the game looks in action. The commentary seems off in its timing as Doc has a delay in his calls from when the action happens. Doc's voice also lacks emotion especially when a monster check or a game tying goal is scored. As for Eddie he rarely interjects and at times is completely forgotten as color commentary.I won't go into the modes as most know what is/isn't included in this package. Online VS. is still available (runs quite smooth) and seems like what most will be playing until OTP is patched in. I do want to comment briefly on Be A Pro mode as it is a staple favorite among the bunch. Be A Pro is still fun and developing your player into a star is appealing due in part to a simplified stat progression and upgrade system. When starting you have the option of being drafted or pre-selecting your favorite team. Both options have advantages and disadvantages according to how many experience points you start out with. Pre-select your favorite team and you will begin with 2,000 experience points to work with. If you choose the option to enter the draft, your experience points will fall anywhere between 1,000-3,000 points depending on your draft position. Which position generates more experience points? I have no clue? In my Be A Pro career I entered as a 2-Way Forward Right Wing and was drafted 28th overall. This yielded around 1,800 experience points. As far as playing games with your Pro, shifts can no longer be simmed, however AI shifts range from about thirty seconds to one minute. The wait time is very minor compared to previous years installments.Should you buy this game? That depends on if you still have your last gen system. If you do and you value EASHL and OTP then I highly suggest making the purchase for last gen. If you are like me and sold your last gen when you purchased your new gen and you really need your hockey fix after a year of waiting, then yes purchase! I hate the fact that I can no longer play EASHL, but I would be more disappointed to miss hockey for another year. Rest easy, OTP will be coming in the future. For now, let's enjoy what we have.

I would first like to start off with sharing my Amazon preorder Experience which was top notch! I preordered this game months before it released Amazon did not charge my card anything until my item shipped and I received my item the same day it released. Was able to come home right from work and start playing right away. Thanks Amazon.Everyone knows about all the modes and details omitted from the game. It sucks. Perfect for the collection
Honestly missed it to buy it in stores. Got it to complete the NHL collection. Still somewhat a good game even though EA is terrible.
