I have purchased three sets of these wires to make glow in the dark costumes for a school talent show. The wires worked very well and gave off a lot of color. I highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for a fun D.I.Y, there is a lot you can make out of these wires. From signs to costumes there is something for everyone and you will definitely get double the looks, as these really stand out with their vibrant colors. One of the first things to mention is that I love how low maintenance it is. Just like in the picture what you see is what you get, the wires are very sturdy and last a long time. I did a dance routine is this costume and the wires held is place for the whole four minutes without falling while the batteries were carefully tucked away in my pants. I love how versatile these wires are, you could make them into virtually anything with the right materials. For my costume I sewed cut up straw pieces onto my pants and just laced the wire through to keep them stable. As difficult as it sounds it hardly took anytime at all to make. Because of these wires I now have a really cool costume and great memories.Moral of this review:Get these wires if you want to create something, they are very simple and yet provide so much. They are very eye catching in person and you are sure to get a ton of compliments. (I personally love the different effects these wires have. You can have the lights stay a solid color and flicker in both a fast speed as well as a slow speed. )

THESE ARE NICE AND BRIGHT. I ONLY WISH THERE WAS MORE INFO ON HOW TO TACK THEM TO ITEMS LIKE JACKETS. II BOUGHT THESE TO BE MORE VISIBLE ON MOTORCYCLE. SO FAR, I AM HAVING TO SEW THE TUBES BY HAND. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THERE IS AN EASIER WAY TO PUT ON MOTORCYCLE JACKET.

This set of EL wires is an excellent start for anyone wanting to begin working with electroluminescent materials or someone who is dealing with a smaller scale project. The Zitrades 9ft Neon Glowing Strobing Electroluminescent El Wires comes in a five color kit including blue, green, red, pink, and white. Everything in this kit comes pre-assembled with five, three stage battery and AC converters, but can be easily spliced with some basic soldering skills. Even while it is a high current wire, the voltage is quite low making it safe for young adults to work with. I was pleased overall with this product. All of the lights were functional, well built, and relatively durable. The easy attach battery packs allow for versatility with the products and a range of options. The 2.3 mm wire shines brightly with only 2 AA batteries, and provides a wonderful flexible light source for almost any occasion. As promised it had no trouble being spooled and spun into unique formations. This allowed me to spell out and create many great designs. Being able to alternate between a constant color, a slow strobe, and a rapid strobe, just further increases the range of possible effect. For my project I attached three of the wires to a hat to create a cool American New Years' effect with the white, blue, and red wires. I feel the AC power converter may be cheaply made however, as there is a distinct and annoying whining sound which detracts from the overall effect. This is a small downside, but with all six converters running in unison it can become a larger issue. Because of this I have removed one star. Overall, this is a very enjoyable and useful product for any party, DIY project, or beginning electrician!

Very bright and vibrant wires. I mainly played around with the red version, and the unit I got is actually red, not pinkish as some other products have been reported. The red variant died after turning on about 3 times, but after contacting the seller (this was the specific color I wanted to use), they issued me a replacement (+1 good customer service). This unit has been tested a bit more and appears to be lasting longer. I'm taking it to Coachella, so I will update my review post-festival but I am cautiously optimistic.As other reviews have mentioned, the lit el wire emits a high pitched buzz which, for my purposes at least, won't detract much because I'll be using it with a bunch of loud music, but is something to consider if planning to utilize in an indoor setting, such as bedroom. As far as I know, this is inherent with any el wire you purchase from any source. Each pack is powered by two double A's and do appear to last for hours.If planning to use creatively, know that this el wire is fairly pliable. I was able to wrap it around a cowboy hat and super glue it down easily enough, I'd also imagine it could be used to spell out words, ect, but it can't bend backwards more acutely than about 45 degrees.Honestly, a solid buy if you are looking for a little extra pizazz in the dark! Would recommend!

These are nice and easy to use. I used them on my bike - in the spokes for burning man. My wife used LEDs. You couldn't see the EL wire at any great distance at all. Past like 20-30 ft you could hardly see them.But they are easy to use. Very resilient - we dropped them, got one caught in the spokes of the bike, held up well. Also they last a real long time on the battery pack.If you have an outside application - go with LEDS. For inside, work great.

I received these today. These are my first exposure to EL wire. I tested (briefly) all 5 - all worked. I think that the underlying phosphor is the same color in all cases (whitish) - just the external sheath is colored.The battery and controller units (5 of them) are surprisingly well constructed. I verified that pressing the button multiple times makes it cycle through each mode - off, on, slow-blink, fast-blink. The battery/controller units are connected via standard JSD 2-pin connectors so you can potentially connect them in other configurations or to other components.As for sound - I had to put them to my ear to hear a distinct humming sound - it becomes a regular beep when in the lights are in mode. I suppose in extremely quiet environments with several of these on it could be an issue, but in a room where casual conversation is happening, and the controllers (just the controllers make the noise), sound is a non-issue.
