Good quality
They work well, very small and good for makeing bracelets or necklaces. Would buy again.

Good looking and small firesteels for necklace or keychain. Strong sparks
The media could not be loaded. Within the limitations of their small size, which makes it just a little challenging to make good sparks from a short firesteel like this, I would say these are perfect for your keychain (as in my pics) or on a survival necklace. If you do put them on a necklace, you might want a small steel striker too, such as a small piece of hacksaw blade, just file off some of the sharp corners as you only need one sharp square edge. With a keyring through one of the holes, as in my video, it makes it easier to scrape the full length of the rod with your knife. Part of the difficulty was that my knife is stainless and you will get better results with a carbon steel knife or hacksaw blade for example. Finally, these can be used as a strong toggle when you put up a tarp line for example. Good feature.

Cute, but not super functional
We thought these little ferro rods would make nifty presents for our scouts--hook one on a lanyard around their neck, right? And yes, they do thread onto a lanyard nicely. The problem is that the rod of these is so small from end to end that you can't get a good swipe going to generate sparks to start a fire. On a normal sized ferro rod you have about 4 times as much striker space than you do on these. That's obviously because they are just short rods, but also because each rod has two holes drilled into it to put a cord through, and you can't strike where the holes are. That leave a solid inch of space to strike some sparks. So, cute, fun, but not a high functioning rod. Maybe slip it into your survival pack? Certainly doesn't take up much space!
