Very Funny Film
Addams Family Values is the sequel to the underrated and underappreciated black comedy, The Addams Family. Released all the way back in 1993, this film saw the likes of Anjelica Huston, Raul Julia, Christopher Lloyd and Christina Ricci return to their roles. Once again, taking the classic Addams Family characters and making them their own. This follow up movie sees the family with a bit of a dilemma. Gomez and Morticia now have a new son (perfectly named) Pubert. This cute mustache equipped little sprog brings out the jealousy in the older children, Wednesday and Pugsley. This ends up with the tired parents bringing a nanny into the Addams household. After several failed attempts, they appear to find the perfect fit with the suspiciously sinister Debbie. Uncle Fester quickly becomes completely infatuated with the new nanny. It turns out she isn't as she seems and is in fact a serial killing gold digger. To go through with her scheme, she has the kids sent off to a summer activities camp and marries Fester. The result is the return of some of the best family friendly dark humour and some of the most underappreciated forgotten comedy scenes of the '90s.Addams Family Values retains that look and style of the first. It feels like an extension on the original movie and works very well as a proper sequel. The money grabbing story line might feel a little cliché and repetitive for some but works as an overall arc. Some could very well consider the film more of the same and a bit repetitive. That is a bit understandable if you look and care about the plot a bit too much. The real charm and quality of the movie is the overall silliness of the humour and scenarios that play out. The dark humour is very much alive and well in this film. The big standouts are of course the hilarious scene stealing moments with Ricci. But there's so many little details that can be easily glossed over if you're not paying attention. These little details can be absolutely hilarious when you first notice them. One of my favourites being Pugsley very subtly hanging himself in the background shortly after arriving at camp. This is the first time that Addams Family Values has been released on bluray and to say it left a lot to be desired is an understatement. The first film got away without any real issues, but had clear room for improvement. This print as a whole needs more work done. There are clear colouring issues through the film. Some scenes have way to much red and others are so yellow that you'd think some of the characters were suffering from jaundice. These issues don't really show up until the last 1/3 of the movie or so but it can be a little off putting.Despite these issues, it's still a sharper looking copy than the old DVD I have. I'm happy to see the film is back in circulation, it's just a shame not much work was put into it. If you're a fan of the Addams Family or have a bit of a warped sense of humour, this is a great fun film to have and I would recommend picking it up. If you can find the twin pack with the first film, even better.

Classic
Who doesn't love the Addams's family. It's a classic for a reason. Again this continues as the first one with real fun. I showed it to my children the other day and they love it just as much as I did as a kid.A classic!
