ONGUARDDouble-Team PITBULL U-Lock and Cable , Black, 4.53 x 9.06 - Inch
M**.
Just what I expected. Works for me.
It's a good enough lock given where I live and ride my bike. The lock stays secure in its holder on the bike though I'm not always confident that will continue to be the case --- though that is a gut feel rather than anything I have experienced. I believe a narrower and longer lock would have fit better on my frame. The size of the lock has worked well in locking the bike up whenever I have used it.

Seems to work well so far
Very large and heavy but hope it will keep the ebike secure

Pretty decent lock
I just received mine today and it appears to be a fairly serious lock. Comments about the inadequacy of the mounting bracket are accurate... I tried to use it on the rear stay and couldn't find a place to mount it where it didn't smack the frame or get in the way of riding, and the lock is so heavy that I was afraid that a good bounce would knock it right out of the bracket. I use a Topeak beam rear rack with a matching bag to carry incidentals when riding around...keys, wallet, glasses etc. and my solution to the problem was to carry the cross bar and cable in the rear rack bag and use the mounting bracket to just hold the u-bar part of the lock (the assembled lock is simply too big to fit into the bag when put together). This seems to work very well and having shed half the weight of the lock makes the bracket closer to being adequate and the U-bar is comfortably out of the way when riding. The cable is of generous length, plenty to secure the front wheel, 4 feet in length, not 4" like the description says (and which has already been pointed out by others). Certainly the cable provides not much more than some additional visual deterrent and maybe a few seconds additional time if someone were quite determined to steal my bike, but I guess I have about as much security as is reasonable to carry around. My bike is brand new, a Specialized Hardrock Disc and on my first brief ride around town I already got some serious stares from a couple of guys up in the town square, and some comments about what a great looking bike it was from a group of guys I was near while waiting for a light to change. While I am glad to have a nice looking bike, it worries me that it gets as much attention as it apparently does... all in the space of 10 or so minutes.

Must read info for all bike lock owners.
I receiving my OnGuard Pitbull U-lock and Cable lock combo today and i'm impressed with the product so far. I did serious research before deciding on a lock and I found that the Pitbull was the best balance of price vs security for my budget. I ride a 1997 Trek 1220 which fetches roughly $250-$300 used. The notion of spending 10% of your bikes value on a lock seems kinda silly because It's impossible to find a decent lock for $25 dollars. If you own a bike that requires a lock but isn't outrageously expensive than this is a great choice. One thing that that has me concerned is that nearly all the people who have been posting reviews don't appear to know how to properly lock up a bike. Here's the method that you should use to properly lock the bike with a u-lock/cable lock set. Use the U-lock to lock the frame and rear wheel to a pole or other immovable object. Slide the cable lock through itself (so it looks like a lasso) on the front wheel, run it through your seat and then attach the other end to the U-lock. This will effectively secure all the easily removable parts of your bike as well as the bike itself. The cable lock is not meant to be your main lock! Also, using it with a padlock is nearly useless because a padlock is easy to cut through. If you use the method I provided then your bike will be as secure as is possible. No bike lock is impenetrable but a properly secured bike should dissuade all but the most determined thieves. Remember, a lock is a theft DETERRENT, not a guarantee of security. If your bike costs $5000 don't leave it out overnight, even properly locked. As for the mount, it seems to be of much better quality than I heard from other people online.I hope my review helps everyone keep their bike safe.Happy Riding!

Lockpicking lawyer recommendation
Got this lock it's really sturdy, it's been called one of the best locks for its price. Locking picking lawyer recommended it because of its "unique locking mechanism" if you're looking for something in the 40-dollar price range I would definitely recommend this one. Only diamond-rated lock that I could find in this range and it is literally almost impossible to cut with bolt cutters. Comes with theft protection. It is a bit heavy but it comes with a mount and you can always put it in a bag or something

Great lock, weak bracket
Lock itself is great, sturdy but not too heavy.Bike mount bracket is very weak plastic and snapped within a few weeks. Seems to be a common problem

Super secure and a bargain
This is a seriously solid lock. A thief would have to be very determined (and bold) to get through this. Safe Secure diamond rated (the D lock). The included cable is really handy for securing quick release front wheels, helmets etc. It's heavy but worth it. It is also covered in rubber so it doesn't scratch your bike.I would definitely recommend.

lock good, fixing bracket crap
the lock is good but the fixing bracket is crap too thin where it fixes across the frame, this should either be metal or reinforced plastic, not injected plastic, id rather pay £2 or £3 more for a better fixing bracket, have had to go and cut some metal straps to put over plastic outer bracket as snapped through the middle

Good value D-lock
This was good value for a platinum rated D-lock. It works as expected. I have only used it undercover so can't comment on how well it would stand up to rain etc. but seems robust enough. Key registration is limited to customers in the USA, although it does come with five keys.

Good value. Solid. Heavy.
Great price for a serious lump of metal. Gold Secure should be enough for most people. Weighty, so best used for home security, in my opinion, rather than out on the road. In fact I use it to secure my dedicated Zwift PC to my indoor training bike, making theft of either quite the challenge.
