Rare Bird of Fashion: The Irreverent Iris Apfel

This is a handsome-looking book, which arrived intact but very poorly packaged (loose in a box too big for it, with a length of brown paper thrown in, but not wrapped around the item). I'll keep it, but it's a disappointment. The photos are attractive and glossy, the provenance of the items listed - but there's no accompanying information or comment or stories about the outfits - for example, when Iris wore it, what makes it work, which were or are favourites and why etc. For a large book, there's simply far too little text - and too little Iris...

Beautiful, beautiful book. Her 'more is more and less is a bore' philosophy is so joyful. Her fabulous style, incredible flair and extraordinary eye are shown in the many beautiful photographs of all things iris. A remarkable woman in so many ways, beyond even her uniquely creative style it is her philosophies on life and love that truly inspire. They realy broke the mold with iris.

Iris Apfel is a great girl. Her personality shines through her sparky introduction. Her clothes and accessories are terrific. But it is the combination of these items and the panache with which she wears them that makes the whole package unique. I loved this book and am sorry I didn't buy it earlier. As a textile design student, with a particular interest in up-cyling garments Iris has been an inspiration to me to create statement pieces.

Very good book, lots of coloured pictures and an insight into this lovely ladies life.Just shows got to find your own style. Marvellous.
