Troy Lee Designs 7850 Ultra Protective SS Shirt

So this is a Great under shirt for impacts on the trail. It’s better suited for track days or races unless the temps are cooler like under 70*. If your riding trails aggressively this is worth the extra heat. Form fit & function. My bladder locks it in place. I barely notice it on descents. I give it a Ten for comfort and an 8 out of twn for being cool/breathable…

Update 7/14/19: i was at a bike park today and i crashed, i hit my back when i fell then i rolled down, and yeah i didn't felt anything and i was able to get up right away like nothing happened. This chest protector save me from any injury. I really highly recommend this to anyone. $120 is a great deal than paying $$$ for hospital bills or copay and the inconvenience. Ive been there!Original Review:I really like this TLD body armor, im 5’7 163lbs and medium fits me very well, its really light compare to my old fox titan, not too hot and i wear it under my jersey, only cons is you might have to go bigger size on your jersey so you don't look like a sausage. I use it on a bike park and my local trail. Pads can be remove especially on the neck area if you want to wear a neck brace which sometimes i do, i recommend wearing a thin layer of shirt under it cuz this thing is hard to take off. Thats pretty much it, im satisfied so far, i will update when i crash (knock on wood) So Stay safe and keep shredding!

This is an awesome piece of armor, especially for the price. It really seems to offer great protection. Comfort is reasonably good considering just how many pads are attached to this thing. It was a little warm on a 75 degree day. I imagine once it gets closer to 90, I'll be a bit uncomfortable.A note on sizing, I have a 37" chest which puts me right in the middle of the medium size recommendation from TLD, however, I found it to feel a bit baggy. I ended up returning it in favor of the small size, which fits me much better.

The product that I received is not what is in the same as the item displayed. The unit was more like a short sleeve version of the model 7855 long sleeve shirt. It was not smooth as shown, so it drags on out layers and the foam pads have large gaps between pads, much larger than the model displayed. And the foam pads are kind of floating in pockets. only about 50 percent of the surface ends up being protected by a loosely floating pad. The unit did have a label that was the same model number as what is shown, but the item was very different. Im not sure if Troy lee or the seller is at fault. It is an ok product but I would not have paid as much had I known what would be delivered.

I bought this for MTB and it definitely feels that it will protect impact in most places however, I bought a large and although it does fit OK around my torso, the shoulders seem a bit loose and I'm worried the pads might shift upon impact. I've ordered a Medium as shoulder/collarbone protection is what I'm mostly interested.

I decided to go to a Spirit Mountain Bike Park and had a great time. I crashed on a couple of double diamond trails and walked away with gratitude that I was wearing protection suffering only from injured pride.

Worth every penny. Had some high impact falls at speed and height over the last few seasons. I do t write reviews but had to on this. Saved my ribs, shoulders and back many times. Took out the lower abdomen pad so it doesn’t ride up on the chairlift. I use it over base layer so it doesn’t get sweaty and sticky. Easy on off. Ultra light and maneuverable. Couldn’t be happier.

I couldn't get this thing off without help. Very tight and the padding is so long in the front and back that it's really difficult (impossible?) to get it off without help. Tried it on once and had to send it back.

Hab mir den Protektor als leichte Variante neben meinem richtigen Protektor (Oneal MadAss) gekauft. Der Protektor an sich fühlt sich gut an, trägt sich leicht und ist gut belüftet. Leider gibt es zwei Faktoren die ich schlecht gelöst finde. Der Rückenprotektor ist etwas zu kurz geraten. Da hätten die Designer von Troy Lee eine etwas längere Variante entwickeln können. Was mich allerdings richtig nervt, wenn man nach einem feucht fröhlichen Bikeparktag den Protektor ausziehen möchte und nur leicht verschwitzt ist, ist das ausziehen recht schwer. Der Stoff klebt förmlich am Körper. An sich kein Problem, wenn der Stoff nicht so dünn wäre. Bei jedem Mal ausziehen, hört man es öfters leicht "ziepfen" (wenn der Stoff überdehnt wird oder leicht reißt). Somit ist es immer ein Akt der Verzweiflung den Protektor abzustreifen. Liegt leider auch da dran, dass es keinen Reißverschluss oder ähnliches gibt. Ein etwas Dickerer Stoff bzw verstärkte Stoffbänder wären evtl sinnvoll gewesen.
