Great book, great illustrations
My wife ordered this book for a project with our daughter and some friends. They had started a little club and she was just looking around for interesting ideas, books, etc. that they could do when she stumbled across this book.I'm a lover of books, so as soon as it came in I sat down and read it. It was so interesting to learn the backstory to Picasso's paintings and other artwork he did of this young girl. The artwork in the book itself was very good. Just a very cute, informative and well told story about this most interesting artist and his interaction with Sylvette David, the "Girl with a ponytail".If you like art, if you like learning more about art pieces came to be, or even if you just like interesting stories, you won't go wrong with this delightful book :-)

Good Read!
This book was purchased for my granddaughter for educational and historical learning. The author, Anholt, writes books about famous people that have helped young children. It was important to me for her to learn about Picasso's artistic abilities, fame, and legends. The end inside cover shows a picture of Picasso and the student, The Girl with the Ponytail, telling the historical story of the two. Not only is it a fun read, it is also informative, and educational! I would recommend it for the children in your life, as a gift, or 'just because'!

Wonderful Read-A-Loud
My students loved this story. The illustrations are beautiful and the story captured the imaginations of my student, who are aged 10-12. I was able to build several activities including vocabulary, story map development, sequencing events, interpreting quotations and the use of similes as well as a culminating actvity of drawing a face in the style of Picasso. This book is one in a series of books that introduced the world's great artists to children.

I love that this book can connect with adults and children ...
I would give this 10 stars if I could. You would be doing yourself and your children a favor by purchasing this! I learned more than what I thought I knew, and my 8 year old ate it up. I love that this book can connect with adults and children alike. A must buy for anyone wanting to expand their children's knowledge of an incredible painter!

It is a great book to read to your child every evening
The entire series of Laurant Anholt is worthwhile getting. It is a great book to read to your child every evening. We have most of them. My 8 year old daughter has developed an appreciation for these artists and has been able to talk about their art when visiting museums and sharing her knowledge with other visiters, which was very cute.

This is OK, others in the series are better
I find it is a bit hit-and-miss with Anholt’s series. While it's a brilliant idea, some of them are not really well written. This one on Picasso and the one on Matisse are our least favourite ones.

Loved it!
It is a very well told story! The first time I read it to him, my 5 yr old picked up his crayons and slept with his sketch book next to him!

Inspires an interest in art
I love these books, they are a great way to inspire children and interest them in art and artists. I have read them with my own children and used them in school with children from nursery age to year 4 (3-9 yrs).

Mi piace
Anche se la storia è un po' difficile per il livello dei miei alunni, il testo è ottimo come tutti quelli di Anholt che conosco.
