Good magnet with great assessories.
I've been magnet fishing several times now. The River Thames is the go to place for pulling out wierd and wonderful items, and this magnet does the job really well. The fact it comes in a sturdy box is an added bonus. I'm a support worker, and I asked the person I support (who's Autistic) whether he would like to give it a go - he agreed. He really enjoyed it (even though he only pulled up a 1p piece) and has said he now wants to buy his own.

Don't buy¡!
This magnet is terrible! I'm sorry but for the money it's not worth it pay a bit more and buy the beast magnet in stead if u need to get anything out of the river we magnet fish all the time and my son wanted the purple one but that's it's only selling point! It will attach to things but no way it will lift it out! We need to use beast for that the extent this magnet will actually lift is bottle caps pennies and nails a few bolts but anything heavier forget it! Please don't waste your money on this magnet I wish I hadn't as now they all fight over the beast but I'm disabled so it's something I enjoy with my grown kids but very expensive if u have little money coming in as it is so now saving for another beast but if u are serious magnet fishers then don't waste money on inferior magnets like this one and go for 360 if u can?

This thing is a Beast for it's Size and Cost. A Great Value!
I was looking for a 360 degree magnet to add to my collection. I found this on Amazon for $75 and figured I'd give it a show. Some of the reviews state things like "Much Smaller than the picture makes it look" and "This thing can't hold 2,000 pounds!" Both of these are true statements. It's only about the size of a tennis ball but it is impressive. No, it can lift 2,000 pounds, but no 2,000 pound magnet can. In fact no 500lb magnet can lift 500lb. You need to understand these ratings before you rant about them. A single sided 1000 pound magnet should be able to move (not lift) a 1000 lb item. A 2 sided, 1000 lb magnet has the pulling strength of only 500 lb on each side. Not 1,000. And these numbers only apply in the most ideal situations, meaning locking an entire magnet surface onto a VERY flat metal surface made of one of the more magnetic metals. No 2000 pound magnet is going to lift the back of your car off the ground though. So let's get back to this one. I throw it into ocean harbors in my New England city. My previous magnet was a 2 sided 1,200 pound and it was pretty good. This thing blows it out of the water. It's small size is actually beneficial. Making it easier to throw and less likely to get snagged. Almost every single pull it comes back covered in metal on all sides. Just yesterday it pulled up a 4 foot long piece of metal that weighed 85 pounds. Now keep in mind that it was only making contact about a 1/2 inch x 14inch area of this 85 lb piece and it hauled it up with no problem. This is about as good of a magnet fishing magnet as you can get for under $100. I recommend pairing it with the Gear Aid 1100 (100ft) paracord/carabiner combo selling here on Amazon for $13. Together they are awesome. No, I have no affiliation with any of these products I'm just a guy from Massachusetts who likes magnet fishing and is happy to share what he learns.

Really nice and comes with everything you'd need
Its a really strong magnet, comes with a nice rope and hooks plus gloves which makes it an all in one package. Thats without the fact that it comes in a really nice box which can store all these things well. Well worth the price

Strong for size and weight, Impressed.
I'm just wanting to start magnet fishing, I wanted something reasonably priced and this fit the bill. I just got it today and hooked a rope to it and tossed some scrap steel and a couple hand tools out in the grass. It works great, when it clamps on a piece of angle iron it is really stuck. Anything flat it really grabs onto it. The round side of a phillips head screwdriver come off easily due to such a limited contact area but a flat sided screwdriver is firmly attached. Warning,Be careful testing flat things it will pinch your fingers severely if you got caught between the magnet and a flat piece of steel. I think this is going to be a great way to get into magnet fishing. I read a review saying they stuck a magnet to their refrigerator, don't try it with this magnet, seeing how it stuck to scrap angle iron it would definitely damage a steel appliance door.
