RK-14MH Repair Kit Metal Handle,Outside Faucet,Compatible with Woodford Model 14,Model 18

I just used two of these kits, and everything went better than expected. Both kits installed without a hitch, and both of my outdoor taps are now leak free. I've seen some people say they received plastic handles- mine are both a lightweight, but seemingly sturdy metal.

Easy to assemble and put into place on first try. No leaks!

I installed this last night kind of last minute. Everything went together pretty easily and the instructions were good. The one issue that I had was the float valve. It is difficult to align while installing the cap. I think that I bent the float valve alignment tip while doing this the first time. After straightening it out, and sanding the tip a bit, it went in fine. There is probably a trick to doing this, but I have not figured that out yet. Everything works perfectly and I have a faucet that is virtually brand new now.

Good quality parts. Fit as described. One drawback is the handle is plastic... not metal.

The kit is excellent. I want to pass on what I learned regarding the replacement of the float valve and this was after talking with the excellent support staff at Woodford. The original components are assembled by machine and are damned tight. It is impossible to thread in the replacement cap without damaging it. The good folks at Woodford have realized this and, if you call them, they will ship you, at no cost, a loaner tap to 'resize' the brass so it accepts the new plastic components. On top of that, they gave me a 'wrench' that makes screwing in the plastic cap a breeze. They provided a prepaid shipping label so you just put the loaner tap back in the box and send it back.

Parts appear to be good quality. They are a complete set to ensure no more leaks and were easy to install.

Instructions are pretty straightforward, but I will share a few tips. My handle(s) wouldn’t come off after removing the flat head screw and you can see from the pic how I handled that. You don’t need to remove the handle to get the goodies out if necessary.Ok, my advice is this: nothing needs torqued down too tight and use silicone grease on everything!! Also, make sure to wire brush all the metal parts because they will most likely be corroded and you or the next person to do this job will be grateful. It took me about an hour to do both of them. I chose not to replace the vacuum siphons because they were working fine. And the new caps don’t identify the model, so if you do replace them I’d use the old caps.
