Tales from the Brothers Grimm: Selected and Illustrated by Lisbeth Zwerger

I've been gathering copies of books which Lizbeth Zwerger illustrated for my great niece. Can't go wrong. Lovely book.

Absolutely beautiful illustrations, and it's an interesting assortment of fairy tales.

I bot this lovely book because I liked her art..still do..but wish there was more of it in these books.

I bought this book from Amazon.in at a hefty price of INR 1500; it had only been published in July 2013 and had no buyer reviews so I bought it based on Amazon's recommendation. The book indeed has great time-tested stories but these seem to have been translated from a foreign language text. There is no fluidity or narration in the text and the language is just too academic & mature, you start reading it to the kid and then realize that actually you will have to read it alone and then summarize to the kid in your own way, the book is just not readable directly to the kid, unless you just want him to browse through the beautiful illustrations.To top it all, the book has severe issues with typesetting & printing. In order to squeeze-in more stories fewer than 100 pages the publishers perhaps forgot to target the real audience of this book, viz. the kids. The book seems to have been composed in Microsoft Word by an amateur, with ugly borders on all pages (except those containing pictures) and huge margins left on all sides. The line spacing and font size is so low it seems someone was given a task to blindly push a story on to a limited number of pages.The book has issues even in its various editions, for example on Page 62 the French edition has the remaining text for the story put properly (see [...]) while in the US/UK edition (and in the one I got) the page has no text at all as due to paragraph spacing issue the entire text was pushed to the previous page (see [...]).I was disappointed at the quality of the book and returned it (the seller initially refused to return it saying it was an imported "Print on Demand" book and the printing problems owe to the fact that books are no more printed on traditional offset machines. They advised me to take it up with the publishers directly. I therefore filed an A-Z claim and Amazon got me a refund through the seller).

I bought this book from an independent bookseller, not from amazon.com. It is a gorgeous book, and my 4.5 year old gives it his rapt attention. I did not see any of the translation or printing issues described by the other review. I saw the low review when looking to find a similar book to add to our collection.

Livre reçu le lendemain de la commande, super!

グリム童話初版出版２００年記念で出された絵本のようです。ツヴェルガーが沢山あるグリム童話の中から選んだ話にイラストも描いています。「ヘンゼルとグレーテル」「七羽のカラス」「赤ずきん」「ハーメルンの笛吹き」「ブレーメンの音楽隊」は本人が以前に出版した絵本から挿絵を抜粋して載せています。ツヴェルガーの絵本を全て知らないのでわかりませんが、残りの６話は新たに描いたものでしょうか。ツヴェルガーの絵が大好きな私には昔のセピアカラーのものと　今の鮮やかな色彩のものの両方が楽しめて嬉しい限りです。文章はまだ読んでいませんが英語の抄訳版かもしれません。「ハーメルン・・」はかなり短い文章でしたから。（その後にページ数だけ打ってあって　文字もイラストもないページが３ページほどあって、一瞬落丁かと思いましたがあれは何でしょうか？）残りの６話のタイトルです。the frog king or iron henrythe wolf and the seven young kidsthe brave little tailorbriar rosethe poor miller's boy and the little cathans my hedgehog
