I am a newbie at homemade Japanese cooking, and always wanted to try my hand at rice balls, or onigiri. I tried wetting my hands, all the tricks on YouTube and would just make a mess and my ball didn't come out well. I splurged on this, and using the short grain Japanese rice prescribed, spoon a decent amount into plastic wrap, twist it tightly closed and press into this shaper. Press the plunger to release, and a perfect, elegant onigiri every time! Very impressive and pro looking, and not to mention it is an inexpensive, easy meal or snack! Well made, sturdy device, worth the money

Nicht wirklich gut zu benutzen. Ich habe ihn jetzt zweimal im Einsatz gehabt und zumindest bei mir klebt der Reis so stark am Deckel (Rundkornreis nach Anleitung auf Reisverpackung zubereitet), dass es mir nur gelingt, die Onigiri halbwegs gescheit zu formen, wenn ich mit einem Messer zwischen Deckel und Onigiri gehe und es damit ablöse. Die recht starke Feder macht das Ganze nicht einfacher.Ich würde das Teil zurückschicken, habe aber leider die Verpackung nicht mehr.

I switched from a basic plastic triangle mold and this helped me make much more perfectly shaped onigiri for lunch! I am still working on my technique, but very happy! I saw some concerns about getting rice stuck in the mechanism- no worries, it unscrews nicely for cleaning! 10/10 would recommend!

I got tired of sticky hands and messing up my onigiri. This works far better. I should have gotten two so I can have someone help me. Presses decent sized rounded triangles. Easy to clean, because it screws apart. Make sure you clean behind the press, it seems like rice can't get back there but it surely can.
