Not good for 85w.
Good for charging the laptop. But if you have no battery or are a technician doing bench tests then this iant good. It doesnt push out enough current to power an 85w machine such as A1398 Retina. Im using a genuine Apple charger but used this cable. Thai cable is thinner causing less cyrrent to pass through it. I can confirm this because i also tried another 85wa charger which worked fine and powered up the machine perfectly.

Cheap and effective repair option for Apple chargers
Cheap and effective repair for Apple chargers - as long as you are OK with taking apart a switching PSU with dangerous components inside and using a soldering iron and solder sucker. For me this is a few Euro fix for a common Apple charger issue - saved myself quite a lot as I had 2 PSU's with broken cables. The magnetic connector seems very firm and sturdy. Its better than what I took off in my view.

Works great if you know what you're doing
Works great, takes a bit of work to crack open the housing and solder on new cable but it beats paying £80 for a new one

Addresses the well known problem of Apple power supplies. Worked for me although it was tricky opening up the power box.

Good value for money. Fairly simple to install. Quality is not as good as the original but overall very happy with it.
